Petoors targets Canberra comeback

Andre Pretorius will miss the Cats’ first three matches of the season if he continues to recover from the ankle injury sustained against the Pumas in Buenos Aires on schedule.
There has been speculation about the expected length of the Bok first choice 10′s absence, but the player himself is targetting the Cats’ fixture with the Brumbies in Canberra on the 3rd March. It is the Jozi outfit’s fourth game of the campaign.
“I’ve still got the cast on,” Pretorius told keo.co.za. “I heard reports that I’m only gonna miss one or two games, but I think they’re a little optimisitic. I’m probably only going to be ready in March. If it was any other type of injury I’d be more bullish, but I’m not gonna stuff around with this. I want to ensure it has healed completely before attempting to play again.”
Bearing in mind the brutal schedule over the next two years, Pretorius’ caution is well advised. He stresses, however, that he is not only considering his international commitments.
“My focus is entirely on the Super 14, I’m not prolonging my time on the sidelines in order to have a rest. This is a new franchise now, and I want to play for them when I’m 100%, not 80%, to give me the best chance of performing well.”
Pretorius stated that the cast is due to be removed in 10 days, whereafter he’ll undergo a week of physio before beginning his rehabilitation program.
