Claws out for Bulls

Frans Ludeke has named his two starting XVs for two warm-up matches of 60 minutes each against the Bulls at Ellis Park on Saturday.

Ludeke has resisted the urge to name a ’1st’ and ’2nd XV’, and has instead named obvious first-choice players in both teams.

Earl Rose makes his debut in Johannesburg at fullback, and indication that Ludeke is not considering using him as a replacement for Andre Pretorius at flyhalf in the first three games of the campaign. Error prone Tiaan Snyman and the unheralded Arno Coetzee get a chance to make their claims.

Jannes Labuschagne returns from injury to start from the second row of the ‘Cats 2′ side, as does tighthead prop Daniel Muller who returns from a stint with Auckland.

Ashwin Willemse, Russell Winter, Nicholas Eyre, Ricky Januarie, Doppies la Grange and Pretorius were not considered because of injury.

Cats 1: Earl Rose; John Daniels, Jaque Fourie, Jorrie Muller, Oginga Siwundla; Arno Coetzee, Dave von Hoesslin; Pietie Ferreira (c), Gerhard Vosloo, Roland Bernard, Willem Stoltz, Trevor Hall, Bertus Smit, Lukas van Biljon, Lawrence Sephaka.
