Habana’s true to the blue

Bryan Habana has signed an extended contract with the Bully Boys until the end of 2009.

Habana, who capped a memorable 2005 season by being named SA Player of the Year, Super 12 Player of the Year and being awarded Try of the Year, has pledged the next four years of his career to Loftus.

“I’ve decided to remain with the Bulls until the end of 2009 because I’m happy here and Heyneke Meyer has created structures that will remain in place for years even if he should leave,” Habana told Beeld.

The news is not unexpected as Habana spoke consistently throughout last year of his happiness at life with the Bulls.

There is, however, an escape clause for both parties.

“The contract offers me the opportunity to make a change if I’m not happy anymore or feel my rugby is not improving as it should. It also gives the Bulls the opportunity to take steps if they think I’m not good enough anymore.”

Habana and his teammates take on the Cats in two warm up matches at Ellis Park on Saturday.
