Cats machine not purring yet

Frans Ludeke bemoaned his team’s inability to take their scoring chances against the Spears in East London.
The Jo’burg franchise scored five tries to one to claim a 29-11 victory, but could only cross the Spears’ line once in the second half.
“I’m not happy with our performance because we set high standards for ourselves,” Ludeke said after the match. “We had many opportunities to score, but didn’t take them. We also lost too much ball in contact situations and were penalised heavily at the breakdown when we started making mistakes.”
More important than the result, however, was the fact that the Cats came through the 80 minutes unscathed.
Bok scrumhalf Ricky Januarie played 30 minutes on his return, while lock Jannes Labuschange survived 40 before being accidentally stamped on the head by team-mate Kleinjan Tromp.
New Cats flyhalf Earl Rose looked good when he got the ball on the front foot, but his decision making let him down too often. Ludeke is expected to give Tiaan Snyman the No 10 jersey for the Cats’ Super 14 opener against the Stormers on 11 February, with Andre Hough and Rose providing back up.

I’ve put my head on the block to say it’ll be either the Cats or the Cheetas to get relegated this year. And given the Cheetas won the Currie Cup and have Rassie as their coach, I’m pretty worried for SA rugby that the team from our biggest city might not be in the S14 next year.

munki
We have a decent T5 and the best backs in SA (all boks), so there is now way that teams like the Sharks,Cheetahs and Stormers can end ahead of us.
Have your say
