Back to Boland for Joubert?

Former Bulls Super 12 coach Rudy Joubert is being lined up for a return to Boland.

Speaking to keo.co.za, Joubert acknowledged that the move would certainly interest him.

“I’ve heard nothing officially, but I think something is in the pipeline,” Joubert confirmed. “I will definitely consider it if the job is offered to me, as it will obviously be nice to be part of Boland again.”

If a deal is finalised, Joubert will take charge of the Wellington outfit’s Vodacom Cup challenge in the absence of Hawies Fourie who has been syndicated to the Stormers as backline coach.

Joubert spent 2004 as a Saru employee, providing reports to the four Super 12 coaches on a weekly basis in which he made suggestions on tactical matters.

“My contract with SA Rugby ended in October, and it hasn’t been renewed. Thus I am now a free agent,” Joubert said, again hinting that a return to the union where he made his name would be welcome to kick-start his coaching career.

Even though I don’t feel that he is coach, he is too smart to discard. He should be put with one of the academies or something.

Ja, he should go to the Spears and apply for the position of rugby director, if there is such a position there.

Yea, shame – ole’ Rudi probably had a bit of a rough deal at the Bulls, since he was just trying to do his job amidst HM building the mighty Bulls empire.

A bit like George Bush trying to be “caretaker” for Ceasar’s job in ancient Rome really…

the problem was never with Rudi Joubert, but the bright sparks who decided to give him the Bulls S12 job. Really bad thinking all round.
