Brumbies battered again
27 Jan 2006
The Hurricanes, loaded with All Blacks and playing at home, humbled the Brumbies in a one-sided slaughter.
The Hurricanes won 40-7, with All Blacks Ma’a Nonu and Conrad Smith showing good form and retired All Blacks captain Tana Umaga equally enthusiastic in a second half romp.
The Canes led 14-0 at the break and the introduction of Rodney So’oialo, Piri Weepu, Smith and Umaga only added to their dominance as they added another four tries in the second half.
The Brumbies, missing Stephen Larkham, George Gregan and Mat Giteau suffered further when captain Stirling Mortlock hobbled from the field.
Scorers:
Hurricanes:
Tries: Hosea Gear 2, Jason Eaton, Lome Fa’atau, Jimmy Gopperth, Conrad Smith
Cons: Tamati Ellison 2, Jimmy Gopperth 2, David Holwell
Brumbies:
Try: Tim Curran
Con: Gene Fairbanks

One feels that the Brumbies are a fading Force. Only one Aussie team can win it this year and thats NSW. Lets hope they don’t, the cockroach ********….

Yeah but the brumbies will unfortunately still beat most of the SA teams. : (

I remember when i first started watching super12, the brumbies were one of the best…
To look at them now i would say the sharks have a better chance of winning the cup.
They say the reds are makin a comeback, but i wouldnt be suprised if the force does pretty well…

28 Jan 2006, 12:12 pm
But it should be your first…
See I have a long way to go to convert all you sinners that support all those
teams…

Sure, Ja, OK Grrr – your attempts at mind control is admirable, but not exactly of hypnotic quality.
I can picture Grrr sitting at jade stadium with 20 000 canterbury supporters.
“Look into my eyes, you are feeling sleepy… The Crusaders can not beat the mighty Cats… The Crusaders can not beat the mighty Cats…
Look into my eyes, you are feeling sleepy…
The Crusaders can not beat the mighty Cats… ”
Hie, hie, hie – would pay money to see that!

I would gladly go do that but the frieken Kiwi’s banned me from entering their island. Somehing about ‘public indecentcy’… So glad we don’t have that **** here in the Republic.

Mongril
And you are flattering those Kiwi’s. Not one of those ‘stadiums’ of theirs can hold more than 1000 people.
28 Jan 2006, 12:31 pm
Jade Stadium problem: Fitting 20000 people into 1000 seats.
Ellispark problem: Filling those extra 59975 seats in a 60000 seat stadium!

Don’t pay any attention to the score of a warm up match, especially a match without Gregan and Larkham.
28 Jan 2006, 14:04 pm
Most of the brumbies that played on friday were first and second year rookies (Curran, Ulugia, Maafu, White, Faingaa twins, Fainfio, Stanford, Salvi). A couple of them aren’t on full contracts or non squad members). The Brumbies had most of the possesion for the game but the canes put their ABs on in the second half and got enough turnovers to blow out the score.

Well makes sense, BrumbyIV, i thought that the brumbies were out of form…
Is larkham match fit yet? “Especially a match without gregan..”???
Gregan is kak, hopefully he makes wallabie side again, it would be to the boks advantage

Billy Connolly (fisher) is thinking about playing Smith at number 8 and alternating him with Julian Salvi (who is a goalkicking openside).

4. Campbell
5. Chisholm
6. Heenan
7. Salvi/Smith
8. Smith/Tawake
9. Gregan
10. Larkham
11. Gerrard
12. Giteau
13. Mortlock
14. Rathbone
15. Ashley Cooper
16. Shepherdson
17. Palavi
18. Samo
19. Wallace Harrison/Salvi

Larkham is getting there (people need to remember he is recovering from a cancer op too). there is an intra squad practice match in the next few days.
Have your say
