The Tahs biased Sydney media that Keo normally sources from, has been awfully quiet since Whitaker announced his retirement from test rugby. Can’t beat the power of Gregan. I hope george gives up the captaincy to concentrate on his game. I would back Vickermann for the job i just hope Phil Waugh doesn’t get it, as he shouldn’t be starting.

harlequin, both the Brumbies and Wallabies had massive injury tolls last year and long losing streaks. The difference is the brumbies ended up 5th and close to the finals.

2 reasons the aussies lost last year

1) No scrum
2) No Larkham

Last year they brought in rules to make the scrum more of a contest. The result was that the aussies couldn’t get up to their usual tricks.

Eddie thought Giteau could fill Larkham’s boots but he didn’t measure up. Doesn’t anyone wonder why the floundering fortunes of the Brumbies and the Aussies co-incided. Injury to Larkham, look no further. Larkham is the ultimate running playmaker at 10, Wilkinson the ultimate kicking playmaker in world rugby but Carter is the whole package.

Both England and Australia are several notches worse when their best tens aren’t playing. The kiwi don’t have to worry they still have luke mcalister and their flyhalf depth is so good they were able to say no to Carlos Spencer who could also make the top ten od tens in world rugby.

there is plenty of time to get it right before the world cup. there is well over 20 tests to be played in the mean time.

The prop situation will take longer to sort out. The biggest problem in Oz is the under age rugby laws. There is a 1 metre pushing limit. This means there are a number of mobile props and converted back rowers (so you have 4 or 5 loosies on the pitch). These props are lambs to slaughter when they get to senior level.

This has to change otherwise we will see more incidents like Ben Darwin at the world cup and Dunning getting minced at Twickenham.

Bnd by and large its only the celtic fringe that dominsates the English rugby mdeia and the dosile surrendering attitude of SA rugby that perpetuates this AB myth.

Fortunately English rugby does not buy it. Its why 13 Englishmen won down there in 2003.

the All Blacks are the most overrated team in world rugby. If they didn’t have such a cool name, the haka, and those freakily big and ugly polynesians they’d lose most of their ‘aura’.

In mean the only time they’ve even won a world cup was when they hosted it. And we weren’t even invited. Its all marketing and hype I tell you.

Now dont get me wrong, they’re still a good side, but they get given far too much respect in my opinion. And that makes it so much easier for them.

The last game of the tri nations,with Rogers at 10, the aussies managed to 3/4 tries past the AB’s.
The ozzies have alot of class players. The AB’s are meant to be invincible, but a back to basic England team gave them a good run for their money.
The BOKS , as long as they stay to their brutal approach will be good, anything outside of that gameplan and the BOKS fall flat.
Boks need to find that backline of theirs

All you people are forgetting one important point: as it was Australia who toppled the West Indies off their perch by winning in 1993 in the West Indies, so it was that is was *South Africa* who knocked the Aussies off their perch in rugby. It was *SA* which delivered the killer blow, after laying them low in the final Tri Nations match last year.

The Aussies had a horrible year *because* of the damage inflicted by SA, destroying their moral etc etc.

The same SA which then went on to slaughter NZ at Newlands:-)

BTW StM, Jonno has retired from international rugby. Do try and keep up, won’t you my good man…
