The Lion shunned by Turner’s pride

The Lion shunned by Turner’s pride

The Golden Lions have turned their back on Brian van Rooyen, pledging not to support him in the upcoming Saru presidential election.

In an official release, CEO Andy Turner made the following statement:

“At the Special Executive Committee Meeting of the Golden Lions Rugby Union, dated 30 January 2006, the Executive Committee has decided not to support Brian van Rooyen in the upcoming SA Rugby elections as President.

“The Golden Lions Rugby Union Executive Committee will decide which candidate to support as soon as the candidates list is available for the different positions.”

Van Rooyen remains bullish about his prospects of re-election.

Cant Turner run, or is that the catch to them going against BVR?

    Heheheh

Start wearing nice white hankeys in your pocket with a pack of Lexingtons BVR.

You’re gonna need a last smoke and a blindfold soon.

    Good move Andy!

A good idea for SA Rugby as a whole.

Now we’ll see who comes out the woodwork.

The other point is let’s see the other unions come out and exdpress exactly who they’re going to support.

They may have a paper team, but the Lions are setting an example for transparency here.

Let’s hear it WP, Sharks (obviously behind Oregon already), Bulls, Spears, Cheetahs and the small unions?

Is there a BVR supporting union out there seeing as BVR’s support base and home union have abandoned him now?

Way to go, the Gumboots Brigade.
Vinnige Vingers v Rooyen, do the honourable thing and commit Hara Kiri. I am willing to supply a panga and some Doom to keep the raoches and blowflies away. This will have to happen under supervision otherwise the panga will either get stolen or broken.

Give Brian Van Rooyen a warning, necklace him with a bicycle tyre. If he doesn’t quit then give him the real thing.

    Cheers

Unfortunately i think the smaller unions like falcons, northern fs,boland border etc will still support brian because they want to be part of the cc lets hope they do the right thing and sack him.

  • 12.PissAnt: Reply to this comment

    redox,

his supporters in the smaller unions are already being replaced, griquas, EP, SWD (?) etc.

and he pleads ignorance – what a twat.

think BvR’s days are numbered, lets get a more quick-witted bloke in charge, perhaps someone thats media savvy.

    Has Keo submitted his CV?

IG & Keo – BVR is a trustee for the Dan Quede trust… What happens if he bites the bullet?

By the way what is happening with that trust?? It would be nice to have a update!!!

    Thanks Bigg

  • 16.PissAnt: Reply to this comment

    BVR a trustee???????

SA 82 after 15, smith and boeta are klapping the lankans

  • 18.rednik: Reply to this comment

I say, Do not vote for anybody who is set up by Maarkgraaf or Luyt. Those two ******** still think of themselves as the C.E.O’s of SA rugby and their shadows run long.

Remember, It was them who set Van Rooyen up in the first place. Watch exactly who these two twats support. The boil has not yet been lanced.

Turner does not speak for himself. The powers that be will rid themselves of their failed transformation puppet, They will then manipulate their constituency into another disasterous appointment.

    The plot thickens.

  • 19.Ig: Reply to this comment

Bigg…no idea, the trust itself is still in existence earning interest ! Keo has been too busy and all it really needs is a bit of marketing and a push

  • 20.Kandas: Reply to this comment

The Luyt / Markgraaff story is bullshit!!!

They never said they supported Hoskins.

  • 21.Stan: Reply to this comment

Luyt has my full support. Regardless of his personality, under his leadership we won a WC and he has proven himself as a rugbyman and a businessman. He is a selfmade rich man and has no desire to enrich himself with our money. He will also not take nonsense from the thiefs, embezzlers and incompetent managers like fat Artrob Petersen.

  • 22.Stan: Reply to this comment

Lastly, go read Luyts book and then decide for yourselves.

  • 23.bigg: Reply to this comment

Ig – Maybe a golf day in Cape Town?? You guys should seriously think about that. I know that most of the muppits living in Cape Town will play… Could be good fun – love to play Keo…

  • 24.cab: Reply to this comment

i agree with rednik and would be very retiscent to support anyone either of those two put forward.

SA rugby would be better served with a more copetent president than BvR, but i personally think the influence of tyrants like Luyt and Markgraft is the worst thing possible. At least they are gone.

Great news, the greatest province in the history of SA rugby had to come out first and say it. Now the oteher provinces can also join in. Down the clown!!!

  • 27.Tony: Reply to this comment

Would like to see other unions follow suit

  • 28.Ig: Reply to this comment

bigg….i think the problem is not too much on the marketing side, but more the orginisation side – its a huge amount of admin – and time constraints at present are hampering the trust – i will kick Keo’s *** the first time he mentions he can chill and get it going….but the diea of a golf day is noted – its is a good one !

  • 29.PissAnt: Reply to this comment

    cab,

i would have agreed with you about 6 months ago, but like stan said, go read luyt’s book and go google his name – the guy is a businessman and a rugby man combined, much like morne dup – maybe not as forcefull.

as for markie’s, i am undecided to be honest.

he had one massive brainfart when he was coach and the subsequent recorded telephone conversation – and should really never been allowed back into rugby.

as for teh recent allegations and his subsequent resignation, do you actually realise that he was the ONLY innocent guy involved in the brand/heunis report where all BVR’s shady dealings was exposed, and the basis of the investigation into affairs in SA rugby??????

makes you wonder about a couple of things.

  • 30.BlueBlood: Reply to this comment

I can respect that. Maybe the Lions think a new chief can save them from being relegated in the S14.

    Hey

The work is not done by th Pres

The Pres appoints the people who do the job

I agree on the wait and see sentiment on Hoskins

I agree that there is no public place for markgraaf & Luyt- but if they play a role behind the scenes- like everyone is doing- it is their right.

Point is SARU needs proper corperate goals and then the proper people to realise those goals

So it seems that Hoskins wants the job and that other influential people also wants him to take the Job

Hopefully he will get both Morne & Ali to be involved- If Francios Pienaar is above board- make him CEO- just ban him from making more tjjips ads- because they are stupid-

Time will tell if we will get A BETTER GAME FOR ALL this time around

but it cannot be done soon enough

come 23/2 come soon… well just give us time to enjoy 10/2
