Corry: Pom revival imminent
5 Feb 2006
English captain Martin Corry believes the dark days following England’s 2003 World Cup win may finally be over.
Speaking to the British media after his side clouted Wales 47-13 in their Six Nations opener at Twickenham, Corry emphasised that winning at Fortress Twickenham was important but away form must now improve.
“We have shown an improvement and a very strong spirit at Twickenham but we have got to take what we have done here on the road,” said the skipper.
“We’ve got to put pressure on ourselves. The real test of a side is if they can turn in a performance away from home.
“We are not trying to kid ourselves that we are better than we are but we have shown an improvement and a more complete game than we did in the autumn.”
“We know we are ranked fifth in the world but we feel we are building up a head of steam and that is very important for us as a squad.”
Despite the convincing nature of England’s performance, Corry believes the competition is wide open.
“This is the most competitive Six Nations for years – look at what Italy did to Ireland. I think Ireland are going to be a force and Italy gave them a real game.
“We are not going into that game thinking we have won it already – we know how tough Italy are going to be.”

Except for a very good and powerful front row, i saw nothing that would put the fear of Allah into anyone, and they still need a kicker.
The Frogs are going to eat you like an ice cream.

They are looking far better, but i think its all blown out of proportion.
Hell they ran NZ close because NZ were playing with 13 men for like 35 minute sof the game lol.
Wales have just looked aweful.
Lets see them take on a strong six nations side say someone like Italy LMFAO.

Stoked for the Scots, but was hoping that the Fenchies would be the side to whip the Pommies!
Damn good game though. Just good to see some great rugby!
Can we offloed in the tackle like that? That should be a characteristic of the faster running game? These F’n Northern hemisphere sides, is there nothing they can’t do!

I’ll still back the Frogs to dump the english, as well as Ireland. The only other giggle would be Italy pumping Wales.
The froggies looked pretty leaderless today though & their pack looked like a bunch of teddy bears.
Both packs looked as though they could maul with England – should be interesting.

You’re living in DENIAL: This England team ARE VERY GOOD.
Be scared SA, be very scared! You have to play them twice this year. Hopefully we’ll not be subjected to another wimpy “see you in Perth” performance.

Fact is the scoreline flattered England, I see nothing to fear in them. Wales on the udder hand should be very worried. Seemed to me like they simply stopped playing when it became apparent they weren’t going to win, the pack were bullied off the ball and simply ran out of steam.
Have your say
