Leamy’s Irish eyes aren’t smiling
6 Feb 2006
Denis Leamy will face a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday for stamping an Italian in Saturday’s 26-16 Six Nations match.
Italian coach and former French international Pierre Berbezier was furious after the match that Leamy had gone unpunished. He urged the citing commissioner to take a stance and Scotland’s Rob Flockhart has done just that in citing the Irish No 8.
Flockhart will also examine whether there is a case to answer for an alleged biting of the arm of Ireland flanker Simon Easterby in the same match.
Meanwhile, Sale’s Tongan international Epi Taione was banned for 18 weeks for biting Leamy on the arm in a European Cup match.

A shameful act by the Irishman went unnoticed by the far more shameful English ref.

but this is now so typical of there play when they play in Ireland. They blatantly cheat.
They did it to us and they just did it to the italians.
That ref was the worst ref to dat, but hell go on to ref the finals of the Tri Nations lmao.

Oh my gosh, an international team who blatantly cheat – what a scandal! Grow up, teams at almost every level bend the rules to their advantage until the ref pings them. As for cheating against us, they scored a try because the ref let them – did you expect O’Gara to tell the ref he wouldn’t score a try as Smit was still talking.
I didn’t see the match, but by all accounts the ref sounded pretty weak. However, when there is talk of overrobust rucking, it normally indicates that the team doing the rucking/stomping is frustrated at the opposition not moving away. Again, that is down to the ref not blowing the opponents up and the players (wrongly but understandably) taking the law into their own hands.

Ha! Are yas still talking about that try against SA? The players should be paying attention – you snooze, you lose!
