Rattlebones back for Brumbies
6 Feb 2006
Aussie Clyde Rathbone is fit again and starts for the Brumbies in their Super 14 opener against the Force on Friday.
Coach Gandalf Fisher has named a powerful starting XV, sure to provide the debutants from Perth with a severe introduction to what the southern hemisphere showpiece is all about.
Stephen Larkham has recovered from his bout with skin cancer, and reforms the world-renowned halfback partnership with George Gregan.
“It is important we get away to a good start and put in some strong performances on the road before we get back to Canberra Stadium,” Fisher told the media, emphasising the importance of the fixture ahead of his side’s trip to South Africa.
“Ideally we would like to return from South Africa with three wins from three. Our record on the road, particularly in South Africa, is a strong focus for us this season and we would like to get over there with a first-up win over the Force under our belt.”

Samo isn’t good enough yet to make the starting 22
Giteau will do the kicking if fit, if not either Mortlock or Gerrard will.

Salvi is another goal kicking option.
munkiboi, their family moved there plus Clyde has been living in Canberra since he has been in Aus.
“hardly a union breeding ground” i don’t know where you got that from. St Edmund’s is the biggest rugby school there. Gregan, Roff, Larkham, Giteau, Henjak were canberra juniors.
