Stormers to Stellies
6 Feb 2006
Keo.co.za has learnt that the Stormers and Western Province are to relocate to a high-performance centre in Stellenbosch from next year.
The move, sure to cause disruption to those players based in the southern suburbs of Cape Town, has been mooted for a number of months.
The primary motivation has been the inadequate Bellville facility, where the squad currently train during the week. Successive coaching teams have complained about the substandard facilities at Bellville.
The decision was communicated to the squad earlier today, and whilst there will be relief that Bellville is finally being abandoned, the inability to find or create facilities closer to Cape Town than Stellenbosch does mean that disruption to a large number of players is guaranteed.
A majority of the squad currently live in the northern suburbs of Cape Town because of the team’s facility at Bellville, with some opting to stay closer to Newlands in the south.

HKGK – do you only see the ocean when you go on holiday?
6 Feb 2006, 18:21 pm
Munki,
Not everybody is attracted to the ocean. In only go there every 3 years or so, for the kids behalf.
I would much rather enjoy a holiday in the bushveld.
6 Feb 2006, 18:30 pm
No Munki,
Your argument is irrelevant the “1″ they lost made up for the points difference at least.
They still lost, I’m guessing, the same % against the foreign teams as the rest of the the saffa teams. And that is where the men are seperated from the boys (yes, and softer boys from the Cape are included)
But to answer your question:
Because we can.

Stan vir my is die beste ding van die bosveld dat jy kan altyd ‘n Springbok op top vorm sien, en as hy sy gat sien, was dit ‘n Leeu, ‘n Cheetah of ‘n Luiperd!

Munki, why would I want to escape the Khaki curtain to go to the ocean? Why would I want to swop biltong for bokkems? Beef & pap for kreef & croisants..?
6 Feb 2006, 18:45 pm
Maar nie maklik n ordentlike Bul nie…
6 Feb 2006, 19:01 pm
HKGK – ah but the best is when you take the beef and the kreef. nothing beats a surf and turf.
keep the pap and croisants.

RedCard – provicial rivalries are not born out of matches against foreign teams. Those 11 to 1 beatings are indeed the most relevant statistic when analysing the anti-stormers sentiment.
what do they say again? jealousy makes you nasty? I can think of no better explanation.
think about it – no one in the 6 nations has a particular dislike for italy – but everyone hates the poms. Success breeds enemies faster than failure.
6 Feb 2006, 19:25 pm
Munki,
Everyone hates the Poms because of the inherent arrogance of the English nation and their superiority complex (take St M for example). Even at sports where they suck, I still want to see them loose. As much as I dislike the Aussie cricketers, I will always wish they make the Poms want to flee their miserable little island when they play for the ashes.
An Italian on the other hand is a clown that you can laugh at – they don’t have issues with other nations and other nations don’t have issues with them. They just long for their women (especially their mama’s) and their ‘La dolce vita’ lifestyle.

Hate the Poms …. I’ll tell you why … 27 000 women and children … that is why … Just look at Princess Charles and her Humanoid Horse-like wife … there mere faces are enough to hate a nation …

Provincialism still running wild in SA i see…
6 Feb 2006, 21:52 pm
Glad to see that more energy is focussed on provincial rivalries than the small matter of making SA a strong hold of rugby where foreign teams always hate coming too because they know that they are gonna loose. If we spent as much time concentrating on that, the All Blacks would be poaching from South Africa as well as the Pacific Islands!

Munki,
I disagree with you, beating the opposition from other is far more important. For eg. beating all the overseas teams and losing all your games against local opposition will most probably get you into a semi. A simple matter of there are more of them.
If the Cats had just won 3 matches that they lost by less than 7 in 2003 (Blues, Chiefs and Crusaders all at home), all three the other sides would have made the semi’s.
