Ludeke lays into his pussycats
14 Feb 2006
Embattled Cats coach Frans Ludeke will not tolerate mediocrity. He has taken the axe to those duffers who paraded as professional rugby players in the 23-12 Vodacom Super 14 defeat against the Stormers.
Jorrie Muller, among the backs gets the first blow in a rejigged backline. Ashwin Willemse returns for Wylie Human and Jaque Fourie has been moved to the wing as a counter to the physical presence of the Chiefs wingers.
The problem, though, is not so much with the outside backs, but with flyhalf Tiaan Snyman. He was hopeless against the Stormers and the word in Cape Town from the Stormers players is that they sensed he was scared stiff of being tackled. Well, imagine a certain Chiefs No 8 knowing that!
Grant Esterhuizen gets an overdue call-up in the centres.
The pack has also been bulldozed by Ludeke and veteran prop Marius Hurter and lock Klein-Jan Tromp won’t see much action again if they continue to plod around as they did against the Stormers.
Lukas van Biljon is carrying an injury, but on Saturday he may as well have been carrying the drinks, such was his negligible impact.
Cats vs. Chiefs (probable): Earl Rose; Ashwin Willemse, Grant Esterhuizen, Wayne Julies, Jaque Fourie; Tiaan Snyman, Enrico Januarie; Ernst Joubert, Wikus van Heerden, Baywatch Grobbelaar, Willem Stoltz, Jannes Labuschagne, Daniel Muller, Lukas van Biljon/Delarey du Preez, Pietman van Niekerk. Subs: Willie Wepener/Delarey du Preez, Lawrence Sephaka, Trevor Hall, Gerhard Vosloo, Jano Vermaak, Doppies la Grange and Wylie Human.

“23-12 Vodacom Super 14 defeat against the Cats.”
Yep keo I guess they did defeat themselves.

Cats need Fourie to attack on centre not defend on wing!
14 Feb 2006, 09:04 am
I think Foure is better suited to the wing.
14 Feb 2006, 09:10 am
Well, thanks for letting said Chiefs #8 know, Keo

The first light in the tunnel, Jorrie is ggggggggggoooooooooonnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
14 Feb 2006, 09:11 am
I also think the problem is with Tiaan Snyman. He’s not ready for S14 rugby. But maybe he will come right in the next game. Nothing wrong with his kicking i believe. But can’t handle up and unders , to scared and don’t keep his eye on the ball

Very strange selections by ludeke he did the same in the cc as well surely the issues in the cats performance on the weekend were in the pack and at flyhalf not in the outside backs why not leave fourie at 13 play Esterhuizen on the wing were he did so well on the weekend and drop snyman for… ag who cares they could even play Sephaka there. I think the only reason he doesnt want to drop snyman is because he is the only reliable kicker in the squad dont know why they let Nel Fourie go on loan to the pumas he isnt a flashy player but he must be better than snyman

What th hell is Jannes “QI” Labuschagne still doing in the team? He was a liability last saturday!! It doesnt help even if the rest of the team can play, so that that ******* (who is too lazy/stupid to think) can break the momentum with his moronic penalties at the worst times.
he was atypical straueli pick…

Use Rose at flyhalf – at least he can take a decision before the next monday.
9 Januarie
10 Rose
12 Julies
13 Esterhuizen
11 Willemse
15 Fourie
14 Token black wing

what does lawrence have to do to get a game. if grooming him as a tighthead means making him third choice then geez what’s the point. start him ludeke you plonker! tiaan plays, cats get stomped. simple.

wicked wugby wascal
useless point on the no 14.
Do u want to bring back Dean Hall or Thinus Delport?
Come up with a list of your preferred non-token wingers.
If u want to comment about rugga, please do so and choose from the number of SA players, token or not.
The next thing you are going to have token scrumhalves, fullbacks, loosies, props, hookers etc.

Before some huge battle when Napoleon’s raw greenies, reconstituted after his return from Elba to face the combined armies of Prussia, Russia and Austria, he spoke to his leaders and said to them:
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A BAD REGIMENT. ONLY A BAD COLONEL
I’m starting to think that just maybe Frans Ludeke needs some introspection before he startes wholesale changes to his team.
Something loike this
9. Januarie
10. Rose
11. ASH IS BACK!!!!!(F-of Gus Version 2.0!)
12. Wayne Julies
13. Esterhuizen
14. Dewey Swartbooi
15. Fourie
Why the heck is he sticking with Ernst Joubert? I thought Joubert was average at best. Please bring Gerhard Vosloo back. Yeah I know that’d leave us with light loosies, but these same light loosies managed to sort out the CC Champs twice and the Bulls last year…. nuff said. There must be something to them.
I agree that Jannes should stay. He’s a true enforcer, while the welcome return of Willem Stoltz should see us being able to compete in the line-outs with a real jumper for a change.

I agree wicked wugby wascal the line-up should be
9)Januarie
10)Rose
11)Willemse
12)Julies
13)Esterhuizen
14)Human
15)Fourie
Although I don’t think Human is a quota player.
I’m going to be really controversial though and suggest Jacque Fourie as a flyhalf. Why not? He played flyhalf as a junior, has a booming boot, and has shown himself to be a good decision maker, and would definitely be better than Tiaan Snyman. Only problem then is that Rose will have to kick for poles and as we all know he is a shite place-kicker.

If one is a quota player they are all quota players. They only stop being quota players if and when quotas are completely done away with.
Only then can any of them KNOW that they are not a quota player. Like Cosatu says, “an injury to one is an injury to all”. It’s like that with quotas too.
14 Feb 2006, 10:04 am
DavidSP, I agree with Ernst. I ould rather bring in BioPlus at 8. My loosies would be..
6. Vossie
7. Cappie
8. BioPlus.

More of the same…

Frans is not good enough to be coaching at this level and it WILL show as the season continues.
It pains me to say this but I think the Cats franchise needs to be relegated.
In the off season go and get a decent coach with a track-record of WINNING GAMES and then bloody well get a #10 that knows how to play.
Pathetic really.
14 Feb 2006, 10:59 am
i hate it when people re-shuffle their backline to counter a threat, like big wingers etc. etc. straight away you are letting the opposing team mess with your set up.
so you take your star centre and move him to wing. now, you probably arent as sound in defence in midfield and so the ball gets to their wings more. it is self fulfilling.
14 Feb 2006, 11:02 am
Did Marius Hurter actually get pushed around ? I dont beleive it!.
I think the whole Cats 8 bar Baywatch were just plain lazy and could not be bothered. How the hell can Fourie attack if he all he has to do is defend all night due to a backpeddaling pack ?
Geeze.Got to hand it to the Stormers 8 for actually dominating the Cats 8.Keep it up.You will need to that against the Tahs as well.
Cats should bloody well get their act together soon or else they may as well bow out mid season!

Errm yes David?
When Napoleon returned from Elba……I believe his next major battle was Waterloo!!!!
14 Feb 2006, 13:55 pm
lol StP and DavidS
14 Feb 2006, 15:15 pm
No Stp
He fought one somewhere else first and then when the Poms joined the Prussians, Russians and Austrians it was tickets for the short little ****!
It was in Austria and then he fought Waterloo in Belgium and got his *** handed to him.
14 Feb 2006, 15:26 pm
Hah
StP
I just remembered
It was Austerlitz
At Austerlitz Napoleon decisively defeated the Austrians and forced the Russians to retreat.
At Waterloo it was effectively him against the Poms with Wellington’s Day and the Krauts under Blucher..
14 Feb 2006, 15:47 pm
Should have dropped Jorrie long ago. jorrie shouldn’t even play rugby, he is *****.
Play Human and Ash on the wings. Leave Fourie in the midfield.
14 Feb 2006, 15:56 pm
Play Jorrie at 10 or 12, he is not a bad inside back. His problem is taking onwership of the high ball and his defence out wide, but closer to the action he should be fine.
14 Feb 2006, 16:53 pm
blackberry,
yessus man that suggestion is just cruel, as a cats supporter the only balls i want to see jorrie taking ownership of are his own.
Have your say
