What to do with a drunken Sailor? Send him home, according to the Waratahs’ management.
Following reports of the Wallaby winger’s excesses out in Cape Town during the build-up to Saturday night’s Vodacom Super 14 clash with the Stormers, Sailor has been slapped with a plane ticket back to Sydney and an undisclosed fine.
Sailor appeared before the Waratahs Disciplinary Committee chaired by NSWRU Chief Executive Officer Fraser Neill, Team Manager Scott Harrison and player representatives Chris Whitaker and Adam Freier.
“After looking at the facts of the matter we arrived at a one game suspension which includes the loss of a match payment along with an undisclosed fine,” Neill.
“It’s obviously disappointing to see this happen and we find it totally unacceptable behaviour, as does Wendell.”
Sailor whipped out the violin and delivered a sob story to the waiting media.
“It’s going to hurt me missing this game, it hurt me missing last week’s game and I think that was half the reason I went out on Friday night,” he said after the hearing.
“I’m pretty disappointed with myself, obviously a very depressing day for me today as we really should have been talking about what a good win it was by the Waratahs.”
