No end to Welsh woe

A week after coach Mike Ruddock was pushed, captain Gareth Thomas is out of the remainder of Wales’ Six Nations campaign.

Thomas suffered a serious scare on Sunday night when he collapsed in front of the TV, causing him to fear for his life.

“Thomas has been ruled out of action for the remainder of the Six Nations after doctors examined results of an MRI scan this afternoon,” the WRU said in a statement.

“Gareth has sustained damage to an artery in his neck that caused the symptoms that he experienced on Sunday night and resulted in his admission to hospital,” it said.

“We expect him to make a full recovery and it is envisaged he will resume training in 10 to 12 weeks’ time.”

Thomas spoke of his ordeal to the Western Mail.

“I thought I was having a heart attack. I thought I was going to die.”

    Shame man, that must be KAK.
    Hope the guy recovers well because hes the only player in the Welsh side that is half decent.

    Funny how he ‘collapsed’ just after he gave out how he and Ruddick didn’t get along, a bit suspect…..??

    That’s a bit unfair, Thomas is a decent guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s now out for twelve weeks or so; hardly a lack of moral fibre, more like a genuine medical condition. I think was being a bit naive in not realising to what extent he was undermining his coach and what the implications of his actions may be.

    Amongst all the rumour and counter-rumour only one thing’s for certain. Wales are the only rugby playing nation who can rival South Africa when it comes to pressing the self-destruct button through needless, fractious in-fighting.

    not nice to hear, brumby amusing nevertheless, think that american dentist might have a problem tho.
