Cheetahs keep winning formula

Rassie Erasmus has kept faith with the side that harpooned the Sharks, for Saturday’s Vodacom Super 14 match against the Highlanders in Bloemfontein.

Erasmus has made a habit this season of chopping and changing his starting XV, but this time around there are no surprises.

“It’s important for us to build up some momentum now,” the coach told keo.co.za. “The only way to achieve that is to keep the same side for two weeks in a row. I’ll probably make a couple of changes for the game against the Hurricanes [on 4 March] and give other players a go.”

The Cheetahs lost their first home game of the season to the Bulls in round one, and Erasmus knows the importance of turning Free State Stadium into a fortress for visiting teams.

“Our home loss against the Bulls was cancelled out by our away win in Durban, but we want to start winning our games in Bloem,” said Erasmus. “If we lose to the Highlanders then we’ll have to win another away game to draw level again.”
