Defiant Dallaglio eyes Paris

Lawrence Dallaglio believes England can salvage their season by beating France and Ireland to win the Six Nations titles.

The world champions’ Grand Slam hopes evaporated at Murrayfield last Saturday, but they can still win the tournament.

England, France, Ireland and Scotland all have four points after three rounds of matches, which means points difference could decide the champion. England (+43) and France (+33) are in the pound seats, while Ireland (+24) and Scotland (0) have some work to do in the weeks ahead.

“We go to Paris in two weeks and that will be the benchmark of our season,” Dallaglio said on Monday. “Right now, the Six Nations is wide open and nobody can win a Slam.

“I believe we can beat France and end our campaign at home to Ireland next month on a high. Of course, this was disappointing — massively so. Not least because we spent so much of the game going forward and they spent so much of it defending.”
