Conservative Cats play it safe

Cats coach Frans Ludeke has given Tiaan Snyman the No 10 jersey for his side’s Vodacom Super 14 match against the Brumbies, despite the impressive cameo from Earl Rose in Wellington last weekend.

Snyman left the field after two minutes against the Hurricanes, with Rose moving from fullback to flyhalf. Immediately the Cats backs looked more dangerous and threatened to pull off one of the biggest upsets of the season when they lead after 30 minutes.

However, Ludeke has opted to play its safe against a Brumbies side that is full of confidence after beating the Force and Bulls, before drawing with the Stormers.

The only change to the Cats backline sees Doppies le Grange replace Bok centre Wayne Julies, while flank Cobus Grobbelaar remains on the bench.
