Bulls utility forward Danie Rossouw has been charged with assault after an altercation in a Brits nightspot on Saturday night.
He is the second Springbok from Jake White’s squad to face criminal charges this year. Flyhalf Andre Pretorius is still awaiting his court appearance to defend a charge of drunken driving.
Beeld reports that the charge has been laid against Rossouw by 21 year old Hendre Labuschagne, a co-owner of a guesthouse, after he was allegedly hit by Rossouw at the Legends pub in Brits.
“Kobus van der Walt, who was with Rossouw in the pub, is an acquaintance, and I greeted him after my brother and I arrived shortly after 23:00,” Labuschagne said.
“Rossouw attacked me shortly afterwards.
“I really don’t know why he did it. We didn’t talk to each other, and he assaulted me without reason.”
Whilst Rossouw’s guilt or innocence will be determined in court, he does have a reputation amongst South African players as no stranger to pub brawls.
