Tiaan Snyman’s Vodacom Super 14 horror season could be at an end thanks to the rehabilitation of Conrad Jantjes.
Jantjes, the Bok utility back, has recovered from injury and medical advice is that he can start Friday’s match against the Waratahs in Sydney. This would allow coach Frans Ludeke to play Earl Rose at flyhalf and axe the limited skills of Snyman.
The hapless Snyman is out of his depth and his performance at flyhalf against the Brumbies was embarrassing.
Ludeke has constantly praised the skills of Snyman and he recently described him as his best option for the flyhalf position in Andre Pretorius’s continued absence.
It says a lot about the talent identification of the coach because Snyman has never delivered a performance expected from a flyhalf at this level.
Rose got a chance to play flyhalf against the Hurricanes because of injury to Snyman. He did very well, but Ludeke would not risk him against the Brumbies.
Now Jantjes has opened the door for the change. If Ludeke can’t see it then he needs to be the one that goes, along with Snyman.
