Breyton and Boome back in SA

Breyton and Boome back in SA

Leading SA sports agent Craig Livingstone says the combination of Jake White’s open-door policy and consistency in selection is luring players back to South Africa.

Livingstone, who represents White and the majority of SA players, said that indirectly White’s consistency in selection had not been good for business.

Livingstone joked: “It was open season when Rudolf and Harry were at the helm. So many players wanted to leave. Now all the top players want to stay and those who have left want to come back. It may not be good for my business, but it is great news for SA rugby.”

Livingstone said he expected the traditional post World Cup exodus, in which players look to play out their careers in the northern hemisphere, but he said that since White’s arrival as Bok coach there were far fewer approaches from players to go overseas.

“The players want to stay and play for South Africa. He has shown consistency in selection and been open with the players about where they stand in his plans. We have a situation where many overseas-based players want to come back and play out their careers here.

“Among those guys are Selborne and Breyton.”

Paulse, who plays for Clermont, is said to be very keen to finish off in South Africa, while Boome needs a medical clearance on a troublesome achilles before throwing in his lot with Western Province.

“Selborne has done his time overseas and is motivated to play out his career in Cape Town. Breyton’s contract is up in June and the chances are very good we will see him back in South Africa.”

I think Gus should also get his “pink slip”.
That poor oke just cannot deliver.

StP – you know, I’ve seen two Stormers games here in UK, and while I’m just as gatvol of Greef kicking the ball away – he has no choice. There is never anyone back to support him. So he has no options.

This kick and chase is endemic in SA fullback – it’s the same thing that counts against Roets making the Bok side – he too is a big fan of the kick and chase. I think that is why White chose Jantjes end of year last year – at least he runs occasionally.

Could somebody tell me WHY Shimmy is starting ahead of Brits? I mean, There are already enough quota players on the field to do that, right?

gecko, the only time i ever saw Greeff perform consistently was in the 10 jersey for the Strmrs when they made the semi’s in 2001/2. He does not have the skill or speed to actually counter attack…

Blackjack – he started this past weekend as he is stronger in the scrums. KvdM set he wanted to take on the higlanders in the tight and ruck and mauls – unfortunately he forgot to tell the two props and that lock Eksteen. And frankly, he was better at the lineouts as well. Few weeks ago against Waratahs Britz lost four crucial lineouts in a row, and did the same this past weekend when he came on – in fact his lineout numbers were worse than Shimange. Maybe you should accept that Shimange might have been picked not because of his colour, but becuase of his gameplan.

blackjack, it could be due to the fact that Brits lost about 4 or 5 lineout throws. Shimmie is actually a more solid player who does the basics right… Brits is great at attacking but we need the basics done right 1st…

Boome left SA after 2003 because he had egg on his face.

    Guys, let’s get civilised
Alan Solomons didn’t rate Paulse while at his best, so, does it mean that AS, a highly qualified barister and a Jewish person is a racist? of course not.
The players and their agent are testing what the Yanks call “a free agency market”, trying to figure their stocks in trade, that’s all, so what’s the fuss?
A brain teasr: what if Quentin Davids would like to come back?

    Onlooker, I rest my case.

    Brits will be a bok.

    Seamus,
I am a Bulls supporter. Gus is a Stormers problem, not ours. Paulse is still better than Gus, but he is handicapping the youngsters from developing.
Onlooker,a brain teaser? **** me, that like predicting a nuclear spill in greenland. But the Stormers are so desperate that they would even take Davids with open arms.
And Paulse once waved a Palestinian flag at Solomons….

Blackjack, i like the shotgun one….
Maar versigtig nou, jy trek dalk n maagspier soos jy jou gat vir Gretep(is dit Gatiep in Afrikaans?) aflag. n Rooinek is n rooinek, en n rednneck is n redneck. Klaar.

    Saffa ***, You are welcome.

when is gus’ contract up w/ wp? gus probably is the best player every practice….so what if our other wingers are n’t the best defenders….but there are guys like paulse and seconds that can score tries

stormers could pull back this diabolical season if this all happens and the boys are signed by mallet and his crew.

jaco, boome and paulse. heck this would give some direction, possibly even send kobus back to the changing shed for good. boome will be good for the tight 5, especially pairing with skeate. will add value in leadership because the guys down in the cape respect boome for his years of quality rugby. wasnt aware of danie klapping boome head off at staaldraad, thats funny. seems danie has an issue with klapping people.

with paulse back, he should be put in at 15. agree his pace is way off, but his experience and direction will give the stormers back 3 heaps of go fwd. similar to what percy does with boks. no real speed but can add serious value.
paulse’s positional play is excellent, he reads the game well and that will help the youngsters like nokwe and ryno who im sure will look up to breyton.

has WP or stormers got the funds to sign boome, jaco and paulse. if they do,,some magic mite be returning to newlands.

Why is it that the Stormers are so K*K this season?

Lets look at a few opinions (read facts)

    1) Back 3 – no continuity and understanding
a)Cos its the 1st time they playing together.
Percy, Breytie, Rossouw showed the value of experience and playing together 4 so long. The counter-attack was always on with them cos they understood & complimented each other well.

    2) Centres – no continuity and lack of vision.
    a) Barry & Jouba were good in 2004 cos of who they had around them, experience & leadership
Playing Gus in a crucial role in midfield has never worked before & never will in future
    JdV is being missed

    3) 8-9-10-12 Axis – It aint working at all.
Adri is way below his best, Barry is woeful, Grant is solid if unspectacular and Bolla is supplying the spark. Its like 4 different wave-lengths.

Loose Trio – No continuity and not working as unit.
    Too much individualism
    No clarity on roles

Tight 5 – No continuity and not working as unit

In short – all the above problems points the finger in the direction of coaching and the direction the coaching. How are these guys being coached? Everyone seems clueless about whats happening next. The defence system is not working cos I dont think everyone knows where he should be or what he should be doing.

ALL IN ALL EEN GROOT K*K PROBLEEM EN SEISOEN!
