Jaco ready to storm Super 14
7 Mar 2006
Jaco van der Westhuyzen will play in the Vodacom Super 14 as soon as he gets a medical clearance, Springbok coach Jake White confirmed.
White, speaking to Keo.co.za, said that the Japanese-based Bok flyhalf would definitely play the second half of the competition.
“It is very exciting news that he will be available,” said White. “We have to make sure that he is placed in a squad where he will get regular game time that is beneficial to the national cause.”
White said no decision had been made on where Van der Westhuyzen would play, but that it seemed logical to push for his inclusion in the Stormers squad.
“Bolla plays nine and Jean de Villiers plays 12. It would make sense to see Jaco play in that set-up, where he is getting game time with his national teammates. It would help me tremendously if he was playing inside of Jean for a consistent period leading into the national season,” said White, who is hoping to finalise the Van der Westhuyzen situation in the next week.
White, in the past month, has been active in his 2007 World Cup planning. He has conducted workshops with those involved in previous campaigns, regardless of the success of the campaign.
“It is important to get perspective from both sides. We can’t always tap into what worked for a previous squad. We also have to explore why certain things did not work. It was a healthy discussion, but it was only a starting point.
“The World Cup, in many respects, is not won at the World Cup. Successful teams will always take you back 18 months to the planning stages as the basis of their success. I think this is where we have failed ourselves as a nation in previous campaigns. The build-up to the last two World Cups has been dominated by off-the-field issues and disruption. Hopefully, we can get it right in the next 18 months and every decision made in South African rugby is to the benefit of this campaign.
“We need the entire country’s rugby stakeholders pulling for the national cause. The World Cup cannot be won on the basis of input from the national squad and the coaches. It goes beyond that,” said White, who added that he was comfortable the Boks could select 30 players of the highest quality.
“We have depth in our game and a lot of it is playing overseas. The key is to keep them here, but to do that you need a good succession plan in Super 14 and Currie Cup rugby.”

I think the reason he looks so good www is because
relative to klein tjips, who he basically replaced, he is a class act!
7 Mar 2006, 11:55 am
O verskoon my
Miskien hoort jy beter tuis in daardie kulturele agtergeblewene gedagtegang as in a moderne beskawing.

I reckon Jaco would be far better suited at the Cats as they don’t have a flyhalf at the moment. Snyman is a disaster and Rose isn’t a flyhalf. Grant has been solid and I think replacing him wouldn’t be the best use of our resources in SA. He’s a player of the future and being sidelined won’t help. The Cats need him, I hope Jake changes his mind.

davidsp,
hy het met die rassisme begin.
lees my no29.
7 Mar 2006, 12:00 pm
so can you tossers plse answer me this: Is Ettiene Botha dead or is he alive? He is dead…
Oh, and i didnt rate him as a player…just like most of you dont rate certain players…
stanley stanley, velcrokop? bwahahahahhahaa
As jy so se ja. ok.
7 Mar 2006, 12:01 pm
Hobbo ,the Cats dont need him, they have Pretoors who will be returning soon.
The Bulls could do with a running flyhalf who is not obssesed with kicking to touch all the time.I like a Flyhalf who can mix it up a bit.
The Stormers can do with him.Hell they can do with anybody now.Even Geo Cronje!
7 Mar 2006, 12:02 pm
Davidsp,

www – Keo and all WP/Stormers supporters are hoping Grant is the next big thing – because we’d love an exceptional flyhalf.
I dont think many of us would suggest he’s bok material. We just pray he will one day be…
7 Mar 2006, 12:04 pm
I think Bobo will make an excellent TV-presenter or as they call them “rugby-analis”, as long as they don’t throw the mike at him he would be fine …
7 Mar 2006, 12:05 pm
7 Mar 2006, 12:06 pm
Stan – it takes 2 to tango. We’re all to blame. dont try taking any moral high ground. We all know you have no morals…
7 Mar 2006, 12:06 pm
munkiboi,
Grant is talented, but rushed way too soon to the big time IMHO.
7 Mar 2006, 12:07 pm
munki,
To be honest, i dont think Grant is all that bad. I expect more from his so called experienced centres and scrummies around him. They are suppose to guide him, but they would not be able to find sand in a ******* desert.
7 Mar 2006, 12:09 pm
no morals? Explain?
7 Mar 2006, 12:09 pm
Stan & wpw
Julle is albei ‘n verleentheid soos julle aangaan.
Cheers.
7 Mar 2006, 12:12 pm
To all you guys who i offended with the ettiene botha comment, i didnt mean to offend anyone but stan…
cheers
7 Mar 2006, 12:13 pm
If jaco does go to the stormers then ther’s only one more person they will need & that is……….Alan Solomons i rate he can change fortunes around 4 them….does’nt anyone know what this oke did for the UCT 1st team.Mallet shud call this guy up.Kobus does’nt know ****
7 Mar 2006, 12:15 pm
rudebud, munki, ask any muppit on this site who normally starts 1st with tasteless comments about players of colour os about WP or Strmrs rugby teams? The name most of them will mention is stan.
I was man enough to admit that my comment was uncalled for but get this prick to apologise for his racist comments, i can bet you he wont…
7 Mar 2006, 12:18 pm
Anvil, that is great news!!!!!!!!!!
How soon is Pretorius going to be back, that might just save the Cats from relegation.
7 Mar 2006, 12:21 pm
just as i thought, the racist bigot is not hear… i will bet anyone he wont apologise for the racist comments…
7 Mar 2006, 12:21 pm
7 Mar 2006, 12:22 pm
wpw – it is HERE …
7 Mar 2006, 12:23 pm
is not hear….
Sug, wat n vermorsing van my belastinggeld.
7 Mar 2006, 12:25 pm
the reds and sharks have both played 19 year old flyhalves this year. Grant is not too young, and has not been rushed. its sink or swim in my opinion. if a player needs to be nursed, he’ll never have what it takes. just look at gaffie. no amount of nursing is going to inject him with bmt, despite him being the most talented flyhalf i can remeber seeing. he has awesome pace, a decent step, skill, size and a booming boot. yet he cant control a match with any kind of consistency in his game.
the guy should be 1st choice bok flyhalf, ut scrapes into the cheetas team at wing. biggest waste of talent since skinstad. IMO
7 Mar 2006, 12:28 pm
Hobo, I know its taking forever but Pretoors will be good to go as soon as his day in court is dealt with.Reckon that would be sooner than Jaco’s impending arrival.IF he arrives that is
7 Mar 2006, 12:32 pm
7 Mar 2006, 12:33 pm
Anvil, so he’s actually fit already and only needs to clear up that trial, great news.
7 Mar 2006, 12:47 pm
wpw – its best not to let his comments wind you up. if anything you should know many of his posts are in jest. if not I feel for him, I really do.
7 Mar 2006, 13:07 pm
Another solutio n of course is to just ask Jaco where he’d prefer to go?
or
Ask which coach would want his services?
Can’t really see the Stormers management or players being to thrilled at his arrival particularly given the fact that Grant has been backed already.
7 Mar 2006, 13:43 pm
WPW – Don’t let rooinek afrikaaner rock spider Stan get to you. He is a outcast to society who gives whites a bad name because of his old SA attitude. Stan get back on your ox wagon and remember your ancestors got fucked up in the boer war…
7 Mar 2006, 13:48 pm
WPW
Stan is just white trash as bigg says he just gives all whites a bad name ignore the oke.
7 Mar 2006, 13:51 pm
Stan
Cheers
7 Mar 2006, 13:55 pm
nice rugby chat …. well done !!!
racism, distatsteful comments, white trash, the great trek – you name it – anything but rugby !!!
7 Mar 2006, 14:18 pm
At some point, the irritation factor of the racist filth spewing from Stan is going to drive normally quiet, interested people away. I am one of them.
Additionally, my reading of the hate speech clauses of various parts of the constitution is that what Stan expounds here sails perilously close to the wind.
This is a moderated forum. I expect someone to take action. You CAN get rid of him.
Cheers

But just exactly how much of which is posted can be construed as racism…..or does our constitution also have bye-laws for provincilasim?
Mikegee
Did you ever see a Stormer fan praise a Bulls’ player, particularly one in direct competion for a Bok spot with one of their own?
Not likely……
Not that I agree with Stan but I’ve never seen you pull the “Hate Speech” number when all and sundry are chanting “Dumb Farkin Dutchmen” and the likes.

Thanks for coming.

Ek persoonlik dink Jaco is baie beter op 15 as 10. Sal nie verbaas wees as stormers hom hier gaan gebruik nie.
7 Mar 2006, 15:02 pm
Hey St. P
Thanks for your comment. I don’t comment often enough on here for you to make any judgement about the pattern of my posting.
At any rate, I have had my say privately to the owners of this forum, and expressed my concern publicly about the virulent racism some posters display on here.
Carry on
7 Mar 2006, 15:12 pm
BWAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Hilarious.
So much to say about some of the KAK I have read I will rather just get back to work.
