Pretorius docket not lost
8 Mar 2006
Drunken driving charges against Andre Pretorius were dropped because of a lack of evidence and not because the case docket was lost.
The Bok flyhalf has clarified to keo.co.za that, contrary to media reports, police did not lose his docket.
Rather, the public prosecutor made the decision not to prosecute Pretorius because of a lack of evidence and low chance of conviction. The withdrawn charges are in line with Pretorius’s consistent statement that he was not driving the vehicle at the time of the accident in question.
“‘Relieved’ is the first word that comes to mind,” Pretorius told keo.co.za. “It’s just good that this is behind me. I don’t know where the story of a lost docket comes from, that certainly isn’t the case. I don’t want to dwell on it though.
“I’ve always known I was innocent, but despite that it’s stuck in the back of my mind and really has been an unpleasant six weeks.”
The development means that Pretorius is able to rejoin his Cats’ teammates on tour as soon as he gets the all-clear from the doctor who is currently monitoring the last stages of rehab to the ankle injury suffered in Buenos Aires late last year.
“The fact that the rehab has gone so well is what has kept me sane. I ran for the first time yesterday, and otherwise have been doing a lot of gym work. The doctor has me scheduled for a test next week, and there’s definitely a chance I’ll be in the mix for the Cats before they return for the home leg. I have to consider the whole year though, and won’t rush back if it will be detrimental to me in the long term.”
Pretorius admitted that watching his side stumble in three of four fixtures, and scrape a win in the other, has been difficult.
“It’s been terrible to watch the guys. I know the way they train and how much effort and ideas are going into their campaign, so obviously what’s happening is very disappointing. The right work ethic is there though, so I hope they bounce back soon.”

I hope this boy can get there before next weekend… We desparately need to pull off at least one win on the road. Two will be a bonus, but at least one…

Ja, well. I don’t do criminal law myself, more of a civil litigation man, but I would hazard a guess that if AP wasn’t driving the ******’ vehicle when he was arrested, that would probably detract from the chances of a successful prosecution.

Cats to win the Super14!!!! Thank goodness Andre is back!
8 Mar 2006, 13:38 pm
Man the cats only chance of an away win will come if they play the stormers at Newlands.
other than that its a no hoper
This entire thing with the docets lost is just sensationalism. The cops are a bunch of morons who clearly saw a gap for 5 minutes of fame.

Shame, what a pity that a team must get carried by a single player…
8 Mar 2006, 13:59 pm
wls,
The funny part of that post is that the only win so far for the stormers was against the Cats…at home.
Bring on Cats vs Force. Humdinger.
8 Mar 2006, 14:04 pm

Newspapers in Cape Town confirmed this morning that they are building a rugby stadium on Robben Island, where the Stormers will get to play local Western Cape primary school rugby sides.
Asked for comment, Nick Mallet replied ” The Stormers are desperate for a win overseas”

JD,can’t see anything agressive in
pierre’s post.
In fact,he summs it up quite well.
Just got back from Sa,
our basic balls skills
are about as lacking as our driving skills,
when pissed,
our handling as inept as the sap and
our management about as clueless as our
government is generally corrupt.
At least we have talent,’ey.

8 Mar 2006, 15:53 pm

8 Mar 2006, 20:54 pm
Say just a little test
8 Mar 2006, 21:52 pm
Andre, it was your own lawyer who was quoted in the press as saying the docket was missing. Although she did not say that was the reason for the case been dismissed but rather delayed.
Anyway, glad you off…

Bad Boys team of the year so far 2006:
15. Latham (Hickville enemy number 1)
14. Fa’atau (Great on the field, weak jaw though, well it was big Jerry)
13. Force Centre (so bad, I forgot his name, thank goodness)
12. McCallister (Tackle people with his jaw)
11. Sailor (Big fan of Cape Town night life)
10. Snyman (No Comment)
9. Kelleher (Stolen phone with porn pics of he and his girlfriend)
8. Fava (“I should have stayed with the Brumbies”)
7. Elsom (Gives the movie Rocky a bad name after his pathetic series of punches that the Bulls prop just laughed off))
6. Collins (Bully my own team-mates)
5. Smolts (Tall timber that is not used in the lineout, and loves to knee people in the back)
4. Ali Williams (Loves the Camera and yellow cards)
3. Blake (hard looking, but thats it)
2. Cannon (Could not hit the side of a barn door, let alone a lock in the lineouts)
1. Dunning (Waste of Space, if only his scummaging was as good as his finger pointing)
Coach: Frans Ludeke
Still, this team can still put up 40 points on the Western Farce.

Good post CSI. LMFAO!

“Lack of evidence”? Didn’t Petoors HAVE a blood test then? Because if he did, and the blood-alcohol count was too low, then he should never have been charged in the first place.
So, assuming that he DID actually have an evidential blood test and it WAS over the limit, enabling the formal charge to be laid in the first place, what MORE “evidence” is possibly needed to secure a conviction?
And the “case file” was not “lost”?
Yeah, right! And Shaun Pollock is really a natural blonde who only dyes his hair orange because the chicks think it’s a really sexy colour…
(Jeez! Just how gullible ARE you guys? No wonder that old shyster Adriaan Kubus Nieuwoudt from Garies could rip so many of you off! )
9 Mar 2006, 09:54 am
I hear you. At the very least this stinks of **** police work. Also wouldn’t do Keo’s “journalists” any harm to get two sides to a story. Time SA woke up to the size and extent of the drink driving problem.
9 Mar 2006, 10:06 am
Well, the police have also been “transformed”, haven’t they?
Have your say
