Sanity as Snyman’s shafted

Frans Ludeke has finally axed Calamity Snyman, four weeks overdue but nonetheless welcome.

The bumbling pivot, whose sheer incompetence hamstrung his faultering side’s efforts in all four of their games in the Vodacom Super 14, has been moved to the bench and Earl Rose handed jersey 10 for the first time this season.

Rose showed promise when moved to 10 for a period against the Hurricanes, and is entrusted with finding the ingredient that transforms the Cats backline from pussy to predator.

Jorrie Muller is recalled, and will be named out of position as fullback. The move is puzzling, especially considering the arrival of a fit-again Conrad Jantjes, and thus can only be interpreted as a tactical ploy by Ludeke in an attempt to confuse the Tah coaches.

Whether they actually give a diggery-doo who wears 15, however, is another question.

In the pack, Lawrence Sephaka has finally been handed a start, and Marius Hurter is recalled for the first time since the opening fixture against the Stormers.

Doppies la Grange is preferred to Springbok Wayne Julies in the midfield.
