Sharks coach Dick Muir will make two changes to his starting XV for Friday’s Vodacom Super 14 clash with the Hurricanes in Wellington.
Prop Deon Carstens and scrumhalf Ruan Pienaar should be on the bench and be replaced by Heinke van der Merwe and Craig Davidson.
“We are only looking at making two changes,” Muir told Daily News rugby writer Zayn Nabbi. “One could be in the front row with Heinke coming in to replace Deon, who has taken a knock to the knee. The other is at scrumhalf because Ruan has a cut on his hand and should be replaced by Craig. We are confident that both injured players are fit enough to sit on the bench.”
Muir said that while victory against the Highlanders had given the team a massive confidence boost, they were keeping their feet on the ground.
“Look we mustn’t get too carried away with the Highlanders win because we’re putting our shoulders to the wheel again this week. The Hurricanes are a very good team who play for the entire 80 minutes and don’t let off the accelerator.”
“They won two games in South Africa, one at Loftus against the Bulls, which shows they are a classy team. They were also semifinalists in the Super 12 last year and if we want to beat them we’ll need to be at our best.”
