George wild about Brumbies deal

George Smith has committed to the Brumbies for the next three years in a deal said to be worth more than a million Aus dollars.

The ACT executive is trying to conclude as many deals as possible at the moment, having indicated they want to extend Laurie Fisher’s contract as head coach and they also want to keep Mat Giteau in Canberra.

Giteau is in talks with the Waratahs and the smart money is on him shifting to Sydney next season.

Smith, who has played for the Brumbies for seven seasons, described Canberra as a second home and the Brumbies as the only team he wanted to play for in Super 14 rugby.

Smith has missed just one match since 2000.
