Injury blues for Blues

Injury blues for Blues

The Stormers bid for a second consecutive win overseas received a shot in the arm with the announcement on Thursday that the Blues will be without two key players on Saturday.

Winger Doug Howlett and openside flanker Daniel Braid have again been ruled out for the Vodacom Super 14 clash.

However, coach David Nucifora on Thursday said the pair, who were coming back from hamstring injuries, were expected to be available for selection next week against the Western Force.

Howlett has been sidelined since suffering his injury in the Blues’ loss to the Crusaders early last month. The problem ruled him out of New Zealand’s Commonwealth Games sevens squad in Melbourne.

Nucifora is due to name his 22 on Friday for the clash with the Stormers.

Meanwhile, Luke McAlister may also miss out and a decision on whether he would play would only be made on Friday morning.

Is this enough for the Stormers to stand a chance, because the Blues don’t depend on Howlett only?

Maybe the Blues tight 5 will have a bad ady at the office.

can’t remember when last the stormers/wp had a consistent run of good form. one relatively good performance is almost always inevitably followed by a mediocre/substandard one. can’t help but feel that last weeks’relatively good performance (they won) might mean they slip again this week. hope that i am wrong. if they can put jokers under pressure from the getgo they might have a chance, because i think the blues are very much a confidence side, when things go well they go bloody well, however when not the wheels can fall off badly.

    Nah bigg,

I’m new. Started beginning of the month, so that’s a six whole days. Here to provide frustrated highveld rugby fans with a crutch to lean on when in need. I am based in Gauteng after all…!!

Have you people noticed the patterns in the inrease in left-handed persons and UFO sightings? It’s trully amazing. There’s no pattern whatsoever.
