CJ eyes Tri-Nations return

Injured Cheetahs prop CJ van der Linde will miss the Springboks’ Tests against Scotland and France in June.

Van der Linde broke his leg during a Super 14 practice session in Sydney when he tried to tackle winger Gavin Passens.

“We fell badly and both our weight was on my leg,” Van der Linde told Rapport. “The leg is broken between the knee and ankle. The doctor put the leg in a splint straight away, which I’ll have to wear for four to six weeks – it wasn’t neccessary to put it in a plaster cast.

“After the splint is removed I will have to wait another two weeks before I can start training again, so it could be another 12 weeks in total before I start playing again.”

Van der Linde hopes to keep himself strong in the gym and be ready for the start of the Boks’ Tri-Nations campaign against Australia in Brisbane on 15 July.

In the meantime, Bok coach Jake White will be considering his alternatives.

“In the matches I’ve played so far two props have really impressed me,” said Van der Linde. “Jannie du Plessis, my team-mate at the Cheetahs, and the Sharks’ BJ Botha are both guys who Jake can throw into the deep end.”

Sorry CJ, but the 2 you mentioned are the best, but to pale for the job.

    Jake can’t comprimise on 1 (Os), 2 (Smit), 4(Bakkies), 5 (Matfield), Loosies 6,7,8, 10 (Jaco/Andre), 12(Jean), 13(Fourie), 15 (Monty).

The only less pale players involved are on 9, 11, 14 (Paulse if fit), and potencially 1 if Guthrow can get over the injury, and that leaves poor old Jake to use Eddie on 3 to make up the required number, he has no choice!

What is happening to Gurtherou, man when i saw him against Australia last year at Ellis park he was like a rampaging Bull. When on form this is the man for the job.

CJ this might be good news in abad way. He can now be totally fresh for the Bok season.
BJ Botha so far has pretty much shown up anyone he has played against this season, also a defo BOK in the making.

Lawrence Sephaka can play tighthead he is a decent scrummager, besides that we got Jannie Du Plessis and BJ Botha waiting in the wings.
