Blues lock Troy Flavell will miss the Blues’ Vodacom Super 14 tour of South Africa after seriously injurying a shoulder against the Force.
Flavell left the field on Friday clutching his left shoulder. The Blues medical staff labelled the injury as a “wrenched shoulder”.
Flavell will have scans on the shoulder early next week to determine the full extent of the damage, but the Blues have ruled him out of their tour to South Africa where they face the Sharks, Cheetahs and Cats.
“It is a big upset for our plans. It has put a real dampener on the evening. We seem to go from one serious injury to another,” a disappointed Blues coach David Nucifora said.
Flavell will be replaced by All Black loose forward Jerome Kaino who has just come back from a six month lay-off following shoulder surgery.
