Eddie axed

Stormers coach Kobus van der Merwe has finally run out of patience with Bok prop Eddie Andrews.

Andrews has been dropped for the first time this season, and Neil Fullard will pack down at tighthead against the Reds in Brisbane on Friday.

Fullard has yet to start because of a lingering neck injury, similar in nature to that which forced Rob Linde and Hendrik Gerber to undergo season-ending operations.

Fullard has opted not to go the route of surgery, however, and has managed the injury sufficiently well to be able to pack down at tighthead.

The injury, although managed and controlled, has still affected the player’s strength, and it is indicative of how disappointed the Stormers coaching staff are with Andrews that they have been forced to turn to Fullard.

Ideally, with long term considerations in mind, his role would have been consigned to substitute for the remainder of the season.

The other changes to the side are as predicted on keo.co.za this morning.
