Jonny Wilkinson will not tour Australia with England in June, according to Newcastle boss Rob Andrew.
Wilkinson played the last 50 minutes of Newcastle’s defeat to London Irish as he continued his comeback from a groin injury, but ended the match limping.
“I don’t know if the injury is to Jonny’s groin,” Andrew told BBC Sport. “Jonny will not be touring this summer. There is absolutely no chance of that. It’s a medical decision and there is no chance of him going.”
Sunday’s European Challenge Cup match, won 27-22 by London Irish, was Wilkinson’s second game in his comeback from the groin injury.
“I was trying to keep him until half-time because that’s all he has in him physically really,” said Andrew.
“But we needed him on the field because David Walder was missing tackles and kicking poorly and we needed something to give us a lift.”
