Success-starved Reds fans have been warned they may have to wait four years before Queensland can re-emerge as a force.
Former Wallabies prop Dan Crowley, who was involved in the decision to axe Jeff Miller as coach after the inaugural Super 14 season, said Reds fans needed to be patient when Eddie Jones takes the helm.
“You’re not going to turn it round in 12 months or 24 months,” Crowley, who in March was voted off the Queensland Rugby Union board, told the Australian Associated Press.
“It’s a 36 to 48 month program to bring these guys through. We’ve unfortunately slipped a long way down the ladder … you can’t jump up the ladder so quickly within a short period of time,” he said.
“If you use the Crusaders as a benchmark they weren’t always as dominant as they have been. They got a younger group of blokes, they brought them through, they started to become dominant and successful.”
