Joubert out for two months
15 May 2006
Marius Joubert will miss the incoming test series against Scotland and France because of a broken hand. He will not be replaced in the national training squad.
The Springbok management confirmed Joubert would have an operation that would take him out of the game for at least two months.
Joubert was included in Jake White’s Springbok squad but Bok communications manager Rayaan Adriaanse confirmed that Joubert would not be going to the Bok camp on Wednesday.
Adriaanse said White had decided not to replace Joubert in the training group.
Other centres in the squad include Jean de Villiers, Wayne Julies, Jaque Fourie, De Wet Barry and uncapped Bulls centre Wynand Olivier.

That’s right shield, they HAVE achievED, currently Joubert and Barry ARE **** and out of form, there are currently other centres that are playing good rugby now and they should rather get a chance…they have been relying on the past for too long and it is time that they step aside and make way for the youngsters that are performing now.

Was it not keo who posted a few articles on breytons form in FRANCE over the last few months? I can assure you if we had a look in the archives we would find a few. I believe he did quite well in France but the climate and language was a bit of a problem…

What I dont get is this: Under Jake they perform. Under Oom Fester, he cant catch or pass. HOW! WTF? Looking at that set of facts, he desrves a good snot clap, because he doesnt care about performing under Fester. How does one need to be COACHED to catch and pass? FFS! It is just the player being damn unprofessional! Instead of gving a professional account of himself every game, he he is just slapgat and doesnt give a ****!

Hell yeah! This is what I want to hear.
But there are some remaining bad seeds in the squad, the likes of Solly, Jaqcues Cronje, Shimange, Julies, Danie Coetzee, Butch James and Eddie Andrews. Rather Give Schalk Britz and Luke Watson a run…They won’t dissapoint you. Maybe even Ronnie Cooke or the Ndugane twins.
How about Shaun Sowerby?

Joubert last had a brilliant game in 2004, with his 3 tries v the AB’s, and before that…I can’t think back that long ago.
You always had the idea that he had so much more potential, but he never delivers it consistently. You can’t keep on choosing a guy for the potential he might deliver, or for one good game he played.
He has not been Springbok calibre for a long time now.

Breyton is **** too but I guess he fits in Jake’s plans because of transformation and experience.
He is a has been too, can’t tackle and has lost all his pace.

This is a blessing in disguise! now maybe De Vet B and Danie Rossouw too and we can get some real talent in – These guys performed like shockers for week on week and cant be rewarded with games, bonuses and credit where its not due!

Did not break his hand in this game, that is for sure. Maybe he broke his own hand because he is too scared to play rugby and didn’t want to be tackled again?
Nobody thought of that!

Jak summed it up Shields. A recent slump inform is one thing but its been easily 2 whole seasons…..and he looks at his worst now. Even Butch james and others have come back and looked decent.
Nobody wished injury on MJ pre knowing it. Its happened and now people are relieved. No real bad blood in my mind.
What it says for me that Jake is not replacing him is that Jake never intended him as a 1st choice anyway, but as an experienced backup to be nursed back to form and get right mentally.
Its a relief that he was not planning to field him ,or so it seems to me.
Breyton is not at his best but still has more to offer in positional play, kicking, offloading and getting in oppositions way than MJ has offere in a long time. Breyton is OK ,but I am the moer in that the the Ndungane’s never got a possie.
Last year i would have said Akona, this year Odwa.
Unlike MJ I have hope that Jake will get the best out of DWB again….its possible but i would like to see WO grow into the position.
Bosman would be an interesting prospect to be groomed as a 12 under Jake.

Cook or Nel? Either one will do the job. Some may view his injury as a blessing in terms of his se;ection as being controversial, I think Cook played in a team that was just finding its feet in year 1. So I’d have Cook.

You got rid of Marius and we got rid of ‘do something’ Dell. Looks like a win win situation to me.

Weren’t many of you blokes confidently bragging a year or two ago that Joubert and The Wet Barry were “the best centre combination in world rugby”?
16 May 2006, 04:43 am
2 years ago….some were bragging, but then they were playing much better esp joubert. We ALL say he is shiothouse now and has been given too long ,he is so out of form that he must play to get it back. he will be better served playing Curry cup and aiding the new boys around him.
Whats wrong that they carved up the toip teams in a couple of games 2 or 3 seasons back…we all agree its very old news.
Didnt you tell some chick /or guy you digged him/her 2 years back, but now you dont? Or are they inisting that you broke your word?

Tackler that was 2 years ago. When barry could actually tackle and almost single handedly smashed the Aussies in the Tri Nations. And when Marius could actually catch a ball and throw a decent passs.
Perhaps Tackler is still living in the past like the form of some of the current players.
