From Beeld:
If the Bulls had a choice, they would have chosen Australian referee Stuart Dickenson for their Super 14 semi-final against the Crusaders.
Bulls backline coach Mike Bayly holds talks with the referee before every Super 14 match to make sure there will be no misunderstandings.
Bayly said: “Stuart and I will have a conversation on Friday, but it shouldn’t take long.
“We (as the Bulls) have never doubted his competence. We think he’s Australia’s top referee.
“Perhaps other South African teams don’t agree with us, but we’re confident he will apply the rules fairly and without prejudice.”
He said the Bulls would have to work on their discipline, because they conceded too many penalties against the Stormers – especially in the first half.
“Things improved in the second half, but we must remember we’re playing against the Crusaders on Saturday and their flyhalf, Daniel Carter, is a match winner.
Team does not lack discipline
“Bonus points don’t play a role in the semi-finals. You’re just expected to win.
“Carter will use every opportunity to kick at goal and it will depend on our discipline how many times he’ll aim at goal.
“Ideally, we’ll make all our mistakes in their half,” said Bayly.
Referring to the yellow cards shown to prop Danie Thiart and lock and captain Victor Matfield in the match against the Stormers, Bayly says that did not mean the team lacked discipline.
“Danie just tried to protect his team-mates from being trampled on by Eddie Andrews, while Victor’s yellow card was a 50-50 decision.
“On the whole, we’re not complaining how Mark Lawrence handled the match, because we still believe he is the best referee in South Africa.”

Great Andrew!
Can you help me find a suitable rugbyclub for a 24 yr old guy looking to play some social rugga?
Crusaders-Tech? NMU?
16 May 2006, 17:05 pm
Kaballas,
Either Saders-tech or NMMU.
I would say Saders definitely….good club that. Drink alot too. I presume that’s what you mean play rugby socially
16 May 2006, 17:09 pm
Yes I like a beer or two after each game/practice etc.
Where is saders field?
You know of someone I can contact?
16 May 2006, 17:11 pm
Do you play Andrew?
Or are you a bit old for running around with the laaities?
16 May 2006, 18:03 pm
Kaballas,
Not too old too play, just don’t have time. Keo keeps me very busy!!
Anyway, Saders and Tech have split. Tech joined UPE to form NMMU.
Saders field is next to St George’s Park cricket ground. Pub is in back of stand.
I’m coming to PE tomorrow so will chat to my contact at EP and get the info to you.
Just remind me please.

Here we go…
16 May 2006, 21:27 pm
I would love it if the Bulls made a formal complaint and refused to play if dickheadenson were the blower.
16 May 2006, 21:28 pm
Andrew,
Of course he’s Aussie’s best ref. They’re all inbred druggies so that makes him the best
16 May 2006, 21:57 pm
Blayly just kids himself,
Dikinson, along with Paul Honiss, has the worst record of biase and prejudice against SA teams.
Not the the Crusaders need any favours from Tricky Dicki, nevertheless they will get few

Heineken Meyer said in public that if he could CHOOSE a ref to officiate a game involving the Bulls that Stu Dickerson, who he regards as Australia’s best ref, is his personal Number One favourite referee!
That’s what Heineken said!
(All sing together now… “How the hell can we believe you? How the hell can we believe you?”…)

regarding earlier club post, does anyone know which clubs would be best in Joburg for a similiar social rugby scene for people in young twenties? The closer to Northern Suburbs the better? I heard something about Owen Nkumane starting a club near Dainfern, would appreciate any helpful info.
