Boks set record straight
19 May 2006
The Springbok management has provided an “accurate overview” of activities that took place on the first day of the pre-season training camp, in view of some “inaccurate media reports”.
According to management, no injuries were picked up during the fitness tests. Andre Pretorius (groin), Marius Joubert (hand) and BJ Botha (neck) did not join the camp due to injuries sustained in the Vodacom Super 14 over the weekend.
Each national squad member present underwent a comprehensive medical assessment and those players nursing slight niggles sustained in previous matches were instructed not to participate in the fitness tests.
Management also confirmed that two coaching consultants have joined the squad to assist with training sessions.
Balie Swart, currently a forward coach with the Sharks Academy, will help the forwards during scrum sessions, while Anthony Eddy – formerly with the Brumbies and ARU – is currently head coach of English club Worcester and a specialist backs coach.
“Swart was a top-rated prop and is highly respected for his technical knowledge of scrumming,” said Bok coach Jake White. “Eddy provides us with a wealth of experience and insight and I am sure he will add great value to especially the structure of our half back combinations.”
Springbok management also confirmed that Brent Russell and Solly Tyibilika would join the training camp on Sunday. The Sharks duo will play for the Wildebeest on Saturday in the Vodacom Cup final against the Falcons in Brakpan.

Bigg,
What a brilliant answer.
That explains it all then.
Guess I can go home now, and stop watching rugby.
Thanks.

bigg,
the selectors selected Tyibilika – not JW all by himself. Let’s see what JW and his team can do with Tyibilika. Dlulani will be there soon enough.
I just hope we will get to see the fitness results. That will make for interesting reading – especially that of particular Cats players.

Lets not start this discussion again. I think the last discussion on the squad selection went over 1,000 posts. In a way some of these injuries may be a blessing in disguise…Joubert.

Maybe Solly T gives really good head… who know’s what Jake’s motives are, they certainly aren’t on merit.
Or…
Maybe Jake doesn’t like Luke’s Christian fundamentalist undertones, and would rather not have another “Darryl Cullinan” in a national set-up.

watched the new fitness system with interest on the news yesterday evening. saw the most interesting thing. one player (couldn’t see who it was), ran at full speed, ACCROSS THE FIELD, before passing. am i wrong in thinking that whether you do something wrong at full speed or not, YOU WILL DO IT WRONG IN THE GAME!!!

Man, Watson sucks… the king at losing the ball in the tackle,
I also know him, he is a w@nker… honestly, extremely disliked in ECape…
Besides JW has his loose trio for the starting 22 so the excess 23 guys wont play anyway..

I really do think that Aolly is a good player and unlike some others, I have never felt that he was a quota. I just don’t think that he is in the top echelon of SA loosies available.
Then again, there is a reason why Jake is the Bok coach and not me.

Sorry Solly
Have your say
