England hammer World XV
28 May 2006
The Springboks have nothing to fear from the World XV. Bob Dwyer’s side were smashed 46-19 by an England XV at Twickenham on Sunday.
The World XV to play against the Boks on Saturday will be a carbon copy of the side that started against an England side, which included 15 of the touring party to Australia. And typical of these kinds of matches, it was the mix and match mob who played with no structure and no real purpose. Nothing will change in Johannesburg.
The names Dwyer put out in the guise of the Baa-baas represented yesterday’s heroes, with the odd exception in Carlos Spencer and Bruce Reihana, who have excelled in English club rugby this season.
The visitors scored three tries, but England responded with six of their own and flyhalf Ollie Barkley helped himself to 21 points.
England led 13-0, then trailed 14-13, then led 18-14 at halftime and then trailed 19-18 after 50 minutes.
But the last 30 minutes belonged to the home side and they scored 28 unanswered points.

must admit it looked like a goods side, but if england can beat them, we’ll make the paraguay result look half-hearted,

Well, lets see how the World XV go on a nice hard running track in the republic.

“mix and match mob”…er, aside from a few, this applies to the Boks too.
Let’s hope this is not the case.
Go Boks!

Gaffie and Snyman would not make the World XV.
29 May 2006, 07:24 am
Hell I couldn’t agree more. If Gaffie and Snyman are the best South Africa wing three=quarters S A has to offer then there is something wrong in the state of Denmark. I saw some great talent in the Super 14, some of whom have just made a tremendous impact in winning the French Sevens. The World Cup is a year away. Why in haven’s name doesn’t Jake bite the bullet and play some of the emerging talent? Unbeleivable. Hamba Kahle.

Of course they would make the world XV it’s just that you racist ******** hate to see whitey on the wing

Gaffie is a legend , i havent done the math but he must hold the record for the player who most misses touch when attempting to kick a penalty into touch. I mean he is a pro player and he does it at least 3 times per game i mean i know he has a big boot but why do teams even allow him to kick to touch anymore.

Joking aside I thought the English captain Sanderson was awesome and Tait and Barkley showed some flashes of skill that have been obviously lacking from English back play of late. Could this be the turning point for the Poms?

jonny, that Tait has alot of potential, but the big boys are going to put some hard hits on him to let him know where he is, should keep him on ice for another year or so.

tait will get smashed by mortlock even henson physically dominated him

Brumby that was a long time ago now. I’d compare him to your own Drew Mitchell, loads of skill and speed but a bit lightweight. So he might take a few knocks physically but remember he’s up against some pretty big guys week in week out in the Premiership and seems to be coming through ok. Much as though I wish England stick to their Noon/Tindall stone-age combo its nice for rugby fans to see the other side of the coin occasionally! Hope the Boks have the same philosophy and play an experimental side. I’d like to see WO play with Ronnie Cook, Ruan Pienaar get a good run out, etc etc.

there aren’t many centres in the premiership that are the calibre of mortlock, tune and staniforth
Have your say
