Mallett means business

Mallett means business

Western Province Rugby has reacted swiftly to reports that they have put Nick Mallett on a short leash.

A report in the Cape Times claimed that Mallett had been restricted in his duties following the disappointing Super 14 and Vodacom Cup campaigns.

An urgent press release was issued by the union in an attempt to quash the story. With reference to the headlines in the Cape Times pertaining to the curtailment of WP Director of Rugby, Nick Mallett’s powers, WP Rugby issued the following statement.

“WP Rugby embarked on a scheduled process of introspection and investigation after the Vodacom Super 14 and Vodacom Cup seasons. As part of this process and after a year in the job, Nick Mallett has evaluated the newly created position of Director of Rugby and has submitted a proposal on its future structure and functioning, to WP Rugby. Included in his submission are his views on his future involvement with the senior teams of the Province.

“Mallett has WP Rugby’s full support and WP Rugby has at no time, nor in any way, moved to curtail his influence, knowledge, vision, or guidance of rugby within the Province. WP Rugby is carefully considering Mallett’s proposal.

“All submissions made to WP Rugby as part of the review process are currently being considered and evaluated, and decisions for the good of rugby in the Province are pending.”

You misunderstood my comment. It was aimed at the people in parlement. Not you. I think they should keep their opinions to the braaivleis fire like we do. Meaning out of parlement.

    Typical SA rugby:

We throw our youngsters into Super 14 before they are ready.

They have two or three good years and already they are “legends”.

We find a bunch of 35-year old has-beens or never-weres and call them “coaches”.

They have a few good seasons and suddenly they are too good for coaching and are made “Director of Rugby” and sit around doing ****-knows-what …

Don’t forget what Mallett did in 1999 WC Wales Got rid of Gary Teichman & took cripple Skinstadt. You know the rest, this oak is bad news.WP is going further down the drain. Get rid of that “OU” or else !

Keo.co.za has always promoted uncensored views, but has never tolerated racist or crass outbursts. Come on guys and girls. If you can't moderate yourselves or each other then I am going to be forced to regulate the posts and enforce a registration process for comments. The choice is yours.
