Wales will fly to Argentina on Thursday for a two-Test tour minus their five Newport-Gwent Dragons players.
The five players will play for their regional side in a European Cup qualifier 24 hours later and join the squad later.
Hal Luscombe, Ian Gough, Luke Charteris, Rhys Thomas and Nathan Brew, who has replaced star centre Gavin Henson in the squad, will be part of the Dragons side that faces Italy’s Overmach Parma.
Henson has withdrawn from the squad in order to work on his fitness for next season. The Dragons were forced into the European qualifer after finishing as the lowest-placed Welsh side in the Celtic League.
Despite their delayed arrival, the five Dragons players will be in contention for the first Test in Patagonia on June 11, head coach Gareth Jenkins confirmed. The second Test is in Buenos Aires on June 17.
