Saru denies Pienaar snub

SA Rugby has denied a report that former Springbok captain Francois Pienaar was not wanted as national team manager.

The article, which appeared in Sunday’s Rapport newspaper, claimed the story came from a source within the Springbok training camp.

SA Rugby said on Wednesday they had undertaken an investigation into the source of the information and “up to now, no evidence has been found pointing to such information emanating from the Springbok camp or any official or employee of SA Rugby”.

“We wish to state categorically that SA Rugby distances itself from the information in that news report. For the record, Francois Pienaar was never a subject of discussions at any board meeting since the election of the new leadership.

“We therefore find it mischievous and irresponsible to bring Mr Pienaar’s name to a matter he has not been involved in.

“It is equally unacceptable that Springbok players should be drawn into a story that is false and unsubstantiated from faceless sources that are out to confuse members of the public.”

“Faceless sources that our out to confuse members of public” … that is Keo and this website in a nutshell !! What good does it do for SA Rugby to publish **** like you did on Pienaar Keo ? It’s just one of many articles you obviously publish just to create controversy and get some hits. We have enough off the field rubbish as it is, so why do you publish more kuk. And please don’t reply with this is “blog” website. The Scots are coming out on Sunday, lets have some insightful news on them. I’ve just watched their game against the Baa Baas and they play a very interesting attacking game across the width of the field. How fit are they ? What is their scrum like.

Grow a ***** man and start supporting SA Rugby instead of your bank balance you clown !!

Rapport newspaper in my opinion is the biggest load of **** – go back and read over the years – they just have an Afrikaans Blue Bulls slant to everything. We live in the new SA man, get with the times! …but hey, that’s my opinion and I am entiltled to it

    66-19 to the Scots !!

Frank Hadden is a good coach, we’ll have to get the ascendency against these guys otherwise it could be difficult.

Thanks man Yebo, ja, also think that Scots are going to be a lot harder than we think

Yes Princess, it is your opinion and you are entitled to it. However, Junior is right and those reporters have good contacts, so they usually get the story right. This looks like a big U-turn to me by SA Rugby (all these different names confuse me).

My view is that Rapport’s rugby coverage is fairly balanced. JJ writes up the Bulls, Louis de Villiers (I think) is quite supportive of the WP while I think Rudolph Lake has a soft spot for the Lions. I think they gave up on the Sharks.

In any case, the Rapport back page is much better than any other Sunday newspaper, therefore great value for money

Rapport is trash, Sunday times gives good Bafana reviews. The rugby news is about 10 pages back (if you look hard enough) .

IF you want real news – watch the games yourself and form your own opinion

Keo.co.za has always promoted uncensored views, but has never tolerated racist or crass outbursts. Come on guys and girls. If you can't moderate yourselves or each other then I am going to be forced to regulate the posts and enforce a registration process for comments. The choice is yours.

Have your say
