Springbok forwards coach Gert Smal believes his pack will be back to their best against Scotland on Saturday.
Without John Smit, Bakkies Botha, Victor Matfield and Schalk Burger, the Bok forwards struggled against the World XV at Ellis Park last weekend. But Smal says order will be restored for the first official Test of the season.
“Contrary to the situation before the match against the World team, the seniors know our moves,” he told Die Volksblad. “The intensity of the training is outstanding and there is a positive spirit.”
Smal said the Scottish based a lot of their play around their big men, which meant the Boks would have to be on top of their game.
“They do the basics extremely well and obtain good possession,” he said. “We will have to put as much pressure as possible on them up front.”
