Michalak to miss Bok test
10 Jun 2006
French flyhalf Frederic Michalak won’t play against the Springboks in Cape Town because of injury.
Michalak hurt his shoulder in the French domestic final, left the field and then watched from the sidelines as his Toulouse side were smashed 40-13 by Biarritz.
Michalak was later withdrawn from the squad to play Romania and the Boks in back-to-back tests.
Toulouse, favourites to win the club championship, trailed 9-6 at halftime, but a five try blits in the second half crushed them and gave Biarritz some solace after they had lost the European Cup final to Munster.

We are lucky he will not play,he is usually very good against us.
But then The French may be lucky that JDV may well not play.

he is too inconsistant brillain 1 moment awful the next just look at this 6N form. Ludovic Mercier who played for the World XV just a week ago would be a ideal replacement…..

Dominici and now Michalak, two great weapons that Boks will not face, Ellisalde the little half back can also make the transition to the 10 spot and Mercier as steel shark has mentioned will be the ideal replacement. Still, the french can be very dangerous whoever they put on the field.

What a pity. I would really like to beat a full-strength French team!
I am confident that we will beat the French here in South Africa.
It might be a different story over there in France…

Well, this is good news for us(obviously not for Michalak)…when he’s on form he can be devestating…though the French are so erratic anyway who knows how they’ll play? Agree with Badger, victory would look better over a complete France

Dont worry we will probably also not be complete which will even it out.(JdV for example)

Good thing for the Boks – this guy always plays his best against us!

I ‘ll tell you something for free these French are absolutely out of their mind to leave Chabal out of their squad. I think he has only got a couple of caps off the bench but he has been awsome for 2 seasons in the Premiership and showed over the last couple of weeks that he can make the step up to International level without a problem.
Man I would love to see Betson, Nyanga and Chabal drilled as a combination! 2 terriers and a Rotwieler!!!!
Mmmmmmm take cover!!!

Agree with u with that loose trio for the french, and yes u right, Chabal has been by far the best Number 8 in the Northern Hemisphere. Its sad that he cannot make the frnch starting XV or the squad for that matter.

He is a very good flyhalf. The french will miss him. But The french do have players like: Treil, Jeazion, Rouschery, Heymans. They still have enough fire power amongst their backs to give us a go. Their fowards have even more fire power.
Have your say
