Well done the Boks. I honestly believed it would be closer. Sounds like a few guys (eg Roussow) came good.

Well done Bokke. I just wish I could have watched this…football be damned!

  • 53.Ig: Reply to this comment

    Good solid performance….

Jaco still concerns me as a flyhalf.

Nice works Boks! Burger and Big Joe had a massive game. Jaco needs to stop with the pointless kicks and Snyman is just useless.

Did anyone notice the scrums went backwards for the first time in the game when the quota scrum was on? It was also then that the Scots scored their only try…

  • 55.Skim: Reply to this comment

Why IG? He had a brilliant game.

  • 56.mikeybrass: Reply to this comment

I only caught the last minute on RSG, gggrrrrr

How were the loose forwards? Did they combine well again and drive forward as a unit?

    How was dino Rossouw?

Did Jaco get his backs away at speed or did du Preez slow things down with kicking and Jaco had to compensate?

Was Os substituted again? Laurence needs game time, people cannot fault him for a lack of match fitness per say – remember how he destroyed de Villiers last year.

Mikey, loose forwards were excelent. They played very well. Danie was in my opinion very good, much better than last week. Jaco wasn’t that great. He maybe kicked to muck aimless kicks. But there were times that he did get the backline away. And yes, Os did go off and Laurence on. I think with about 20 min to go. He was also solid.

Dino Roussouw was awesome today. jake White just knows how to play these guys.
Really good game from the Boks.

When the front row was subbed, things went tits up.
Our scrum was so far stronger then them.
Well Done Boks, this should shut a few people up.
They did everything well, and they can improve.
Hard to believe most of the people on this site thaught they would lose to Scotland at home lol.

  • 59.mikeybrass: Reply to this comment

    Thanks, Reinhardt.

WLS, when you say the front row went off, did that include Andrews?

  • 60.keo: Reply to this comment

wls … who thought they would lose to the Scots?

923 people when I last looked had voted on the poll, with more than 80 percent saying the Boks would win the series 2-0 and only 6 percent giving the Scots a series win.

The bones also said the Boks would slaugther the Scots. A big call to make that most of the people on this site thought the Boks would lose when the facts of what was recorded show otherwise.

Os was probably the cornerstone of the Bok victory but the forwards dominated anyway. Difficult to see any merit in playing Jaco because his kicking away attacking ball is a problem.

Thought Ricky Januarie provided more front foot ball than FdP as well.

Great win some great tries but a lot to talk about and work on. The pack destroyed the Scots in the scrums for 30 minutes then held them and then went backwards. Watch the tape again te decline happened before the subs were made. Do they get tired or rest or do not have the long horse stamina?? That to me is a worry because if come up against a pack that can hold their own they will destroy us in the last quarter!!!!!! I also have a worry with the kicking – too much grubbers this time. You know I would not mind if we kicked a lot if we were good at it – but we are not. I wish we would learn to treat that ball as a precious loved one and protect it like our lives depended on it – then we will be unstoppable!!

But I will take a 20 point win

  • 63.Reinhardt: Reply to this comment

Mikey, Andrews didn’t go off. It was an “All Black” frontrow…

  • 64.Onlooker: Reply to this comment

    Come on guys,
That was a understrength Scotland test team that didn’t even bother with any warm up games, look at things in retrospective.
The previous 2003 Scotland touring party was a much stronger test team

  • 65.mikeybrass: Reply to this comment

Januarie sounds like he is benefitting from White’s coaching and fitness regime, then. After he played so badly last week, he might be getting his act together again.

So basically the talk about “quotas” causing the scrum to be “****” is once again hot air, BMM. I guessed as much. The forwards need to work on their power and fitness as a whole.

Hey guys, I only saw the 2nd half – went to the pub around the corner and convinced them to turn one TV from Aussie rules – the soccer bunch were unstoppable. Don’t you think they went off the boil in the 2nd half because they had the game in the bag? Back line also went off the boil when JDV was subbed. We still need to look for a replacement for Jaco.

  • 67.oxfordshark: Reply to this comment

Not a fan of Jaco at 10 but he did tackle well and made a few attepts at his channel, wish he would leave the kicks though.

  • 68.wpforever: Reply to this comment

agree Alibaba,Jaco makes too many bad decisions, and his kicking is very predictable, his tackling however was pretty decent

  • 69.Alibaba: Reply to this comment

    Hi WP

Andre is too prone to injury – where do we go after these 2? As long as it is not Derick – he will not be the solution. Naas’ style will not make it in the professional era – we will never have a pack that can dominate like we used to to in the days Naas played. Still think Morne Steyn can crack it with enough confidence and playing time, or one of the new youngsters – but that is my opinion – and opinions are like a#@%#holes, everyone has one!!!

  • 70.mikeybrass: Reply to this comment

Naas also used to run the ball extremely well, marshalling the backline. His tactical kicking was just so superb that he is primarily remembered for this rather than his magical ability to put Gerber et al. into space.

Jaco has the latter ability but loses on the former. There is currently no flyhalf that can match Pretorious and Jaco. Butch is injured and the jury is out – maybe White will be able to work his magic with him. Bosman needs more time to gain experience and then further tutalage under White.

Personally I think the cubboard will look better in two to three years time, provided that White is kept on and the promised structures are actually put into place by the provinces.

Ruan Pienaar could he possibly play flyhalf,he is very versatile

  • 72.wpforever: Reply to this comment

    just a thought

  • 73.ddrek: Reply to this comment

Du Preez is a solid campaigner. He should be rested this weekend with Januarie and Pienaar given a half each. We’ll be set for scrummies come France and the TN,whichever one Jake picks.

Perhaps it should be experimented with in the bok setup and if Ruan really wants to play there.

  • 74.ddrek: Reply to this comment

    At flyhalf that is.(Pienaar)
