Province edge Pumas
23 Jun 2006
Luke Watson gave another indication of his pedigree with a brace of tries in the opening Absa Currie Cup match on Friday.
Watson’s double was essential as he led Vodacom Western Province to a hard-fought 25-18 Absa Currie Cup win over the Pumas in Witbank.
Province led 15-8 at halftime. Apart from Watson’s two five-point efforts, Peter Grant – playing at inside centre – also contributed 10 points via two penalties and two conversions. Province though failed to secure the bonus point for four tries, but coach Kobus van der Merwe will have been pleased to get off to a winning start.
The Pumas were full value and matched their more fancied opponents with three tries, but goal-kicking proved to be a problem for the home side.
Scorers:
Pumas:
Tries: Sam Gerber, Lourens Dunn, Rian van der Merwe.
Penalties: Jeandre Fourie 1.
Western Province:
Tries: Luke Watson 2, JD Moller
Conversions: Peter Grant 2
Penalties: Grant 2

Goodness gracious me it seems that I’m the only one on this thread! So be it, I’ll be a Province supporter to the last man standing.
And I’m enjoying it here without Stan.

Bulls and Province won’t smell the final. It will be a Sharks-Cheetahs affair.

Luke come to NZ.
WE SELECT ON MERIT. Not favouritism, size or quotas. Once you’ve served your three year residential period YOU”LL BE A SHOE-IN FOR THE AB’s. Hell even Rawlinsin made it. What are you waiting for??

Watson only shines against the minnows.
Where was he in the S14 against Pedrie, AJ, Juan Henro and the other losse forwards.
A big fish in a small pond.
If the Pumas had a reliable kicker….
3 tries each.

When did scoring 2 tries against the Pumas become the Litmus test for rugby greatness and pedigree. I know after Ig’s posting the other day we are not allowed to infer anything about Capetonians sexual orientation but Andrew, when you wrote this article you must have had your head up somebody’s bottom.

That’s not what Ig said in his post. He had it against you guys who cannot have a decent conversation on a thread without being abusive. Are you like this in your normal life too?

Have you ever laughed in your life? is anything remotely funny to you? I feel sorry for people like you, emotionally crippled. Ig said we should stop abusing each other on this forum, I don’t believe I abused anybody with my post except possibly you but that hardly counts because you are an emotionally stunted ****.
