Chiliboy Ralepelle is on a mission to gather as much info as he can while on tour with the Springboks.
Far from feeling like he has made it and can relax, the Baby Boks skipper and hooker is relishing the chance to learn from the country’s best.
“Every second that I breathe I learn something and that’s what I want to do on tour,” the Blue Bulls hooker told The Star’s Jacques van der Westhuizen.
Ralepelle joins fellow Baby Boks, Pierre Spies and JP Pietersen, in the senior squad for the first time. Ralepelle shares a unique relationship with Bok captain John Smit: Both attended Pretoria Boys High, both play in the No 2 jersey and both were SA Schools players. Now they are both in the same Springbok touring squad.
“I know John’s the captain and first choice, but if I keep my books open and take in every little thing I can to make myself a better player, that’ll be good enough for me,” said the 20-year-old Ralepelle – eight years Smit’s junior.
“This is a dream come true and a massive opportunity for me. It’s a blessing and now it’s up to me to make the most of it.”
