Sharks coach Dick Muir has gone with the same pack for the Absa Currie Cup match against Western Province on Saturday.

Hooker Bismarck du Plessis, who was impressive against the Lions and scored a try for his efforts, said the Sharks “owe them one” when the two clash at Newlands.

After losing heavily twice to Province last year – 47-19 away and 45-21 at home – and the Stormers then doing the Sharks no favours in the Vodacom Super 14, the time is right to set the record straight.

“Success in our first game has made a huge difference to the team morale and now we are focussed on this weekend. It is a crucial game and we owe them one after losing the last three games to them,” Du Plessis told keo.co.za. The Sharks also failed at Newlands in 2004, losing 32-26.

The continuity in the pack, the main strength of the Sharks in the Super 14, will be key to the outcome, while the backline has been tampered with a little.

The backline shuffle sees Brett Hennessey replacing young Carl Bezuidenhout at fullback. Dusty Noble gets a start at left wing with Adi Jacobs moving into the midfield to partner Grant Rees.

Scrumhalf Scott Mathie and No 10 Butch James come in for Ruan Pienaar and Andries Strauss at halfback, with the latter two dropping to the bench.

    Lemoen , nou gaan jy te ver lol.

    Dink dit gaan ‘n goeie game wees om te sien. Ek is seker die Sharks gaan wen met al hulle jong latte in die span. Hulle het my regtig beindruk met hulle laaste paar wedstryde in die S14. Goeie hardloop rugby gespeel , iets wat province nie meer doen nie. Maar Province het ook heelwat nuwe gesigte hierdie jaar , so ek hoop hulle gaan ‘n goeie game speel teen the Sharks. Wens Province wil so bietjie geld spandeer en ‘n goeie afrigter kry.

    Andre_wp glo dit of nie maar ek is wp ondersteuner maar ek is so negatief oor hulle! Wat ek nie kan verstaan van hulle nie hulle het nou al amper 5 jaar n probleem met die vaste 5 voor nou hoekom maak hulle nie n ordentlike plan en koop of steel of bou of maak n plan om tenminste 2 voorrye en 1 slot te kry nie as hulle dit net kan doen gaan Schalk Brits beter begin speel nie dat hy sleg is nie maar hy gaan meer losser kan wees en dan gaan die agterlyn ook iets uitgerug kry en ek hoop hulle gee Barry af tot volgende jaar o ja dit sal mos nie nodig wees nie want hy behoort mos nou te perform as hy nog iets oor het om te wys so al wat ek se is hulle moet net die regte 1,3,4,5 kry dan sal dit beter gaan!!

    Ek dink Muir speel nie vi ruan nie want hy dink die Wp is ‘n pushover. Hy mag dalk verras word hierdie naweek. Then again…with Fester as coach I dont think Wp has any chance….

    the youngsters will try, but the forwards will lose the battle and their backs will suffer from this…..When is the bones coming Keo?

    Ek het twee jaar trug al gese WP gaan regkom maar sover het daar nog niks gebeur nie. Daar was gese dat Mallett te veel ingemeng het met spankeuses gedurende die S14. Daarna is hy gese om weg te bly en sy werk in die kantoor te doen. Kobus is nie regtig ‘n goeie coach nie , om eerlik te wees ek ken die ou nie eens nie. Ek’s seker daar is genoeg tallent in die kaap maar Mallett gaan soek spelers oorsee. Hoekom ? dit weet ek nog nie. As ons ‘n ordentlikke voor ry kan bou dan sal die res vanself regkom. Kyk hoe het die bulle gebou , hulle het met jong spelers begin en kyk waar staan hulle vandag. Die Sharks het die selfde pad geloop en hulle is baie beter as WP hierdie jaar , ek wil selfs so ver gaan om te se hulle is die beter span van al ons spanne hierdie jaar. Ek hoop maar WP rugby kom reg binne die volgende jaar anders moet ek maar my WP trui ook verkoop aan ‘n Blou Bull ondersteuner.

    I’m calling for all Johannesburg & Pretoria Bulls supporters attention:

    I have an extra “Losie ” Ticket available for Saturday’s game.

    Plan is to have drinks & good food at Kickoff Restaurant (at the Stadium), then watch the game, halftime drinks, watch the second half, then drinks again!!

    I am deadly serious!!!!!!!

    Ek kan ook nie verstaan daai edmonds haker wat WP gekoop het wat het hy nou al by WP reg gekkry en wat het hy al geregverdig om in die span te kom!Hoeveel wedstryde het hy al begin in die tyd wat hy daar is 2 of is dit 3. Dus sulke goed wat my net laat wonder oor die hele WP rugby verkoop liewers vir Barry en Joubert aan oorsese spanne en vat daai geld en koop 1 ordentlike speler in soos bv n Matfield,Bakkies of danie Rossouw nie dat hulle seker sal belangstel in elkgeval nie!     Good to see that Muir is rotating Ruan and Scott. The same goes for Strauss. Glad to see Adi Jacobs starting at 12. He looked quite dangerous on the wing last weekend.

    I cant see the Shakrs losing this curri cup.
    They will win easily on Saturday as the WP single biggest enemy still trains them.
    If WP dont even make the semis this year hopefully cobus will bve on his fat balding arse or head which ever way you want to look at it and out the door.

    I am reluctant to say this because of certain developements at work , but everyone is missing a point here . Even last night Naas said on M.Net he was at the Sharks academy . Everyone above agrees there is something happening in their academy and this is borne out by the sudden infusion of sharks academy players into senior rugby . NOBODY has mentioned Strooli’s input here and like it or not , it cannot be ignored .
