Rupeni rebels again

Fijian winger Rupeni Caucaunibuca let down his team once again on Wednesday when he missed the flight for his country’s game against Japan.

Fijian coach Wayne Pivac said that Caucaunibuca informed him at the last possible minute of a family commitment, and that he would not be able to play in Saturday’s Pacific Five Nations match.

Last year, Rupeni was banned from international rugby for 12 months after leaving the airport as his team were preparing to board the plane for Tonga, where they were to play an important World Cup qualifying match.

Rupeni made his return to the team last month when Fiji played the Junior All Blacks at home in Suva.
