Sharks to smash WP
30 Jun 2006
One year ago Dick Muir arrived at Newlands and his young Sharks team took a 40-point beating. On Saturday expect Muir’s side to get the 40 points.
The two teams meet in the second round of the ABSA Currie Cup and the Sharks are heavily favoured to knock over a home team that reportedly stuttered to a 25-18 win against the Pumas. Don’t expect much more from a team, whose coaching staff is battling for survival with each game.
The Sharks were the best team in the Vodacom Super 14 and they will be the best team in the watered down domestic showpiece this season.
Muir has put together an exciting blend of youth and experience and national team call-ups have also not hampered the Sharks too much. They have lost John Smit, Albert van den Berg, Percy Montgomery and Brent Russell. Province have lost Eddie Andrews, Joe van Niekerk and Jean de Villiers. Province, though, have lost plenty more to injury and unavailability, none more so than Schalk Burger, while De Wet Barry is in the ridiculous situation of not being needed by the Bok coach, but not allowed to play ABSA Currie Cup rugby.
Barry situation does not make sense. Then again a lot about South African rugby never makes sense.
The Bones are picking a Sharks triumph, while in the northern derby the Bulls will give Loffie another reminder of the torture when coaching the Lions. Bulls to win by 15.
In the other two matches the Cheetahs will win against the Valke, while the Pumas should get a win in Kimberley against Griquas.

Oh Keo is up!
30 Jun 2006, 08:50 am
and it sounds about right…
30 Jun 2006, 08:56 am
Scenario:
You are driving in a car at a constant speed. On your left side is a
valley and on your right side is a fire engine traveling at the same
speed as you. In front of you is a galloping pig which is the same
size
as your car and you cannot overtake it. Behind you is a helicopter
flying at ground level. Both the giant pig and the helicopter are
also
traveling at the same speed as you.
What must you do to safely get out of this highly dangerous situation?

Problems!!!
30 Jun 2006, 08:58 am
cane, that is great, laughing aloud in the office is not good!
30 Jun 2006, 08:59 am
Keo,
I hope your bones are right this week about the Bulls. You always seem to jinx the bulls.
In my heart I hope WP wins….but in my head I have put R500 on the sharks to win…..
Cheetahs team looks like their s14 outfit, so they will be hard to stop this year.
30 Jun 2006, 09:01 am
I see KEO has joined the idiots in this site in making predictions. Why?
Why not talk about the rugby itself and less about who’s going to ‘moer’ who? You care less about good rugby being played and concentrate solely on who wins who! What are we…11?!
30 Jun 2006, 09:01 am
Finally it’s Friday. Pitty Keo is wrong with his predictions for the weekend.
Well the Sharks are good but Province will come back with a late try to seal the game with a 5 pointer. The Bulls will come close but also they are going to loose against the Cats outfit.
WP 34
Sharks 29
Cats 26
Bulls 23

Morning guys:
Did you hear …….Andre Pretoruis was selected even though he can’t even run.He had a op to his groin and it will be weeks before he can play rugby again.
30 Jun 2006, 09:04 am
Rugby, geez man, lighten up!
Where have you been the last 24 months by the way? Keo does this EVERY FARKING WEEK! What exactly is the problem…
30 Jun 2006, 09:05 am
Ditto….Koos. Who is this idiot?????
30 Jun 2006, 09:17 am
Tend to agree – would be good for WP to pull something off , but the sharks look a good deal more competent than the plonkers at Newlands.
Lions to upset the Bulls…….sorry Grr paid me to put that in my comment.
30 Jun 2006, 09:19 am
uuuuhhhh… the sharks were the second best team buddy. 4th and a semi vs 5th and nothing = best vs 2nd best.
get it? got it? great.
30 Jun 2006, 09:22 am
Andre are you drunk, the Lions to beat the bulls and WEEPEE to beat the sharks, shees the odds on that must be pretty good!!
30 Jun 2006, 09:24 am
a riddle wake-up? keos already given us all the answers
30 Jun 2006, 09:24 am
Ig my man I hope you didn’t pick the lions in superbru, else it’s gonna be a looooong season for you again!
30 Jun 2006, 09:24 am
JUSM the only reason the Bulls made the semis was because Vodacom sponsors both the Bulls and the stormers. The bulls got just the right amount of points to get into the semis. Coincedence?? Me thinks not!!
30 Jun 2006, 09:25 am
So this prediction means that WP will win…judging on the basis of previous Keo predictions
30 Jun 2006, 09:27 am
Cape Shark
Hehehe , yeah , i also wish. But the Sharks are to strong and bulls will also take it. Just stiring abit.
I hope Province will at least get a bonus point.
30 Jun 2006, 09:28 am
JUSM – i don’t think i did. thankfully my WCS predictions have pulled my overall prediction score up…
I see PA is keeping form with the Super 14…….
30 Jun 2006, 09:35 am
Didn’t **** only take over last year? Didn’t Kevin Putt mind that **** was taking the sharks team to Newlands two years ago?
30 Jun 2006, 09:40 am
Who cares which of these teams win? It will be a Bulls / Cheethas final again.
Keo, the Crusaders will definitely disagree with your comment that the Sharks were the best team in the S14.
30 Jun 2006, 09:45 am
fritz, didn’t think I had to qualify (SA team). We are talking SA at the moment.
30 Jun 2006, 09:46 am
lol Ig yes looks like he is! i’m not playing any soccer prediction games. very hard to predict if you ask me.
well Cape Shark, like Hansie tought us: number one is number one, no matter how you got there. an 80% win ration doesn’t lie!
30 Jun 2006, 09:47 am
Gaan n bulle/haaie finaal wees en hy gaan kliphard wees!
30 Jun 2006, 10:05 am
The Lions may well beat the Bulls…..it’s very early in the CC and the games are largely irrelevant.
30 Jun 2006, 10:06 am
Johs smth is not a lose for the sharks .. it’s a blessing because thay now can play a dynamic hooker ..
Sharks to win
Lions over the bulls (hopfully)
Cheetahs to pull off a close one.
30 Jun 2006, 10:07 am
LIONS!!!!
30 Jun 2006, 10:13 am
go Grrr
I’m right behind you, although I’d like to see all the upsets happen this week, I suspect Bulls, Sharks and Cheetahs will be the winners.
Damn.
30 Jun 2006, 10:22 am
rugby student,
Who the **** do you think you are , to tell us what to do?
Go to another thread. Go to another site.
Get a life, take your own.
Cane,
Not bad for a SS!
30 Jun 2006, 10:22 am
Paws,
Just who might that dynamic hooker be?
FYI – in the last 4 RWC’s, no team with a “dynamic” hooker won, they had hard, strong forwards who played upfront.
91 – AUS – Kearns
95 – SA – Russouw
99 – AUS – Cannon
03 – ENG – Thompson
Furthermore, all these teams had forwards that were dominating at these stages.
I do not see a “dynamic” hooker in SA who plays tight as a forward.
30 Jun 2006, 10:32 am
Have I missed a year of my life here or what?
Wasnt Kevin Putt coaching the Natal boys 2 years ago. I seem to remember seeing **** Muir at Newlands last year and the Sharks did get a pasting then also the crowd showed their class by boooing Percy whenever he took a breath.
30 Jun 2006, 10:39 am
Stan
Considering your efforts to date, well done on a truly remarkable piece of literature. Your most legible to yet. Keep up the good work.
30 Jun 2006, 10:45 am
Actually, we want to break the record for the biggest win against the pink shirts. Natal to reach the 100 mark!
30 Jun 2006, 10:46 am
31 BULLET
I just have a lovely mental picture of Kearns and Sean Fitzpatrick being more ‘dynamic’. Four fists each?
30 Jun 2006, 11:02 am
Like I said earlier in the week.
The BIG Game in CT will be SK-Walmers Vs Tygerberg.
I will give the WP game a miss this weekend.
I see Ishma-eel Dollie is in the SK Walmers team for tomorrow.
Don’t know if he is available for WP. If he is I would recommend they pick him for their next game.
30 Jun 2006, 11:03 am
Ig,
are you there?
30 Jun 2006, 11:04 am
Always Stan…what up ?
30 Jun 2006, 11:09 am
Stuur vir my na die adres wat het.
Ek het nie snail mail nie.
30 Jun 2006, 11:17 am
Snail mail being postal mail. Ig wants to send you a letter bomb
30 Jun 2006, 11:20 am
Somebody left the door of an overflowing longdrop open.
I smell 3rrday.
30 Jun 2006, 11:34 am
Sarky, that’s not what John Smit is about. He is hard and does not need to punch and fight. Kearns and Fitzpatrick put fear into the opposition. That’s what got them to the top of their game. Mybe they were a bit dirty, but **** me if they were not the greatest hookers of their era. BULLET, you seem like a clever chap. Good to have some insightful comments on this thread.
30 Jun 2006, 11:37 am
Bullet and Hooker2,
The closest we have to your needs is Danie Coetzee. Hard, strong and no nonsense.
30 Jun 2006, 11:39 am
Ig,
Gekry.
Joune is oppad.
Geniet.
30 Jun 2006, 11:41 am
Cheers !
30 Jun 2006, 11:42 am
Agred CFB that will be the big game of the week.
Lets hope nobody gets murderd!
30 Jun 2006, 11:46 am
Stan, I have to say the Gary Botha is also an extremely good hooker. I am a John Smit fan, but recently I am beginning to wonder if I am right. He has certainly not played near the level he was at last year, but lets see what he does against the Aussies and the AB’s. I don’t see much point in panicking right now. If we come 3rd in the TriNations, then we must take a long hard look at things.
30 Jun 2006, 11:47 am
Tell me Hooker and Bullet, do you need brains to play hooker? Are those lineout calls very complicated to get right? If you do need brains then we are probably in serious trouble.
I really have enjoyed John Smits after match speeches of late. Rather eloquent and humble in defeat and victory. Makes a nice change from the usual arrogant and boring rhetoric that we normally get from our cricket and rugby captains.
30 Jun 2006, 11:49 am
Fudge.
30 Jun 2006, 11:54 am
As my name says I was a hooker. Hopefully I have some brains ( ithink so, but others may disagree). If we think about it though, we bash our heads against others in the front row, and don’t mention the fists and headbutts from the opposition locks. That’s my excuse for any poor after match conversations. John Smit obviously has what it takes to be a captain. He has captained every representative team that he has played in. All those coaches can’t be wrong. His play on the field is something else. Those of us who like a hard tight game like him, those who like an expansive sevens type game like Schalk Brits. Whatever happens, we all like to see the boks winning. I can’t change anyones opinion and you won’t change mine very easily. Thats what makes being an Armchair selector GREAAAT!!!
