Man with a plan
3 Jul 2006
Golden Lions president Jannie Ferreira has been tasked with drawing up a strategic plan for South African rugby up until the 2015 World Cup.
According to Beeld newspaper, Saru has called for a plan to be drawn up as soon as possible – with Ferreira in charge – to serve as a guide for the next nine years.
“We should have started this process a long time ago”, Ferreira told rugby writer Liam de Carme.
“SA Rugby has asked me to drive a process through which we must draw up a strategic plan for the game. It must be an umbrella plan that will incorporate all aspects of the game.
“We hope to make much progress on Monday. We will meet for a whole day and have to report to the presidents’ council afterwards. We hope to get a lot done.”
Ferreira said he had assembled a team of experts with diverse expertise for the task.
“I have asked a team of 12 to get the process under way. There are coaches, technical people and analysts. People such as national coaches Peter Jooste and Ian McIntosh will be there.”
SuperSport analysts Owen Nkumane and Dan Retief will also be involved in the process.

Gtting back to rugby…
So Jannie Ferreira, the man who runs a stadium where the employees dont know from one second to the next, whether alchohol is allowed in, out or halfway into the stadium, has been tasked with “stategic finking” for SARU. Perhaps his talent should have been better utilised pouring the drinks at the pub outside?
Does the Yellow Fleabag union even have a youth talent development programme (and by that, I dont mean do the managers go and watch their kids playing rugby on saturdays)? Do they ave any good skills training courses set up? Do they have any forward planning at all, never mind that comparable to the Bulls?
WFT?

You’ve the gift of the gab.
List for ‘Beeld’ Ferreira the small steps he needs to get things back together.
Minor stuff like
Academy / Youth development program
The page of efforts results and progress made on all other plans up until now.
Their web site
Their crowd figures for Ellis, excluding soccer.
Their exceptional branding and publicity efforts.
Their S14 program
Their CC program
Theri U21 program
Theri complete and utter ineffectivenes to produce a ******* interview or report in one of the papers published in the city their ******* team represents.
This has to be the most frustrating and incompetent union for any supporter. Two universities, millions of people and we end up with the cabbage kids to run our rugby.
At least now I understand what john Robbie meant when he said he supported the Lions rugby team. He really did not mean the vegetation in the management suite.

St M, important point here is that you may have the best strategic thinkers in the world, if you don’t have the ‘do’ers’ it is worthless, and vice versa. I’ve seen this with many Poms that I work with, they think they’re so farking strategic, but they tend to deliver real shite work.
Another major problem with the Poms, if they win a major title, e.g. Football and Rugby, they must be the best forever and everyone else will hear about it. Look at the stupid Pommies that weren’t even born in the 1960s, they will tell you about the days of 1966. Same with the rugby, according to the Poms there will never be a better team than the 2003 one.
Poms, wake up, you don’t rule the world anymore, and thank God for that.
