More splinters for Shimmie

Bok reject Hanyani Shimange is set to return to Western Province’s match 22 for Saturday’s Absa Currie Cup match against the Bulls at Loftus.
The hooker has gone from being Jake White’s most famous benchwarmer, to being ranked behind John Smit, Danie Coetzee, Chiliboy Ralepelle (all on tour) and arguably Gary Botha in the national pecking order.
Unfortunately for him, he is also seen as second-choice at WP, with Schalk Brits having secured the No 2 jersey. In fact, rumour has it that Province didn’t want Shimange to be released back to his province and were hoping he’d be included in the Tri-Nations squad.
In any event, Shimmie should replace Huia Edmonds among the substitutes fpr the Loftus game, after the Australian’s poor showing against the Sharks last Saturday. It was his wayward throw that saw WP lose a line-out at the end of the game, from which the Sharks were awarded a penalty and Danie Saaymen scored the match-winning try.
The only other confirmed change for WP is that of Juan Harris for Attie Winter. The tighthead prop tore a muscle in his chest and has been ruled out for the season.

The way brits’s lineout throws were going on the weekend i wouldnt be suprised if there is also hope that he gets called up to the bok squad , the excuse that he isnt used to his lineout jumpers doesnt cut it anymore he has been at wp for a while now and he still sucks when it comes to the basics functions required from a no 2.
Sure Huia missed one critical lineout at the end but again Simon not suprisingly misses the fact that brits missed a hell of alot more.

Attie Winter out for the season – great news. He was bought from Griquas by Kobus VD Merwe, had his head shoved up his arse in first few Super 14 games, dropped, brought back for Curriecup and now he has supposedly torn his chest muscle, after being slaughtered by Natal. Methinks that he tore his chest muscle hitting the turnstile on the way out of the stadium, after being kicked up the butt by Mallett.

Got to agree,
Don’t rate the guy much myself and truly believe that Brits is the better hooker, but even if the rumours are not true, this is not what a guy that already is struggling for form and/or confidence needs!!

Enjoyed some lekker club rugby again this weekend.
Shimmie was OK until he got selected for the Boks. There are just so many players like him. Mostly black.
Gets picked for the national team and when he gets back to his province he is not needed.

Tiaan maybe, had a great statistical S14 (2nd behind Brits) and the fact that both the cheetahs locks were statistically our best in line-outs (just ahead of the Stormers locks), with the fact that the cheetahs had the most solid scrum (ok Os might have something to do with that too), but the rest of your list I don’t know.
Bismark had a blinder against the Lions a week ago, but 1 great game doesn’t put him ahead of shimmy (not that shimmy is better than Bismark either, the test and training results will be decider for the individual coach).
The rest still have a way to go yet.

I partially feel for the oke…….
Your life is in your hands, and being black has added advantages in this day and age.
However, when a man is down, the last thing he needs is to be kicked into the wilderness. WP need to make the decision whether he still has something to offer them, but be open and honest to him about it. If not then give him the rains to his future (i.e. be allowed to work on specific aspects of his play, be transferred to another maybe smaller province (still in cc though) where he can play himself into form, etc
Him losing form I don’t feel for, if you really want something you will work for it, and I believe every person should examine themselves constantly to see where they are in life and set new or adjust goals and in need re-set the path to reach these goals.
And the shame he was good part I don’t by either. What is Shimmy doing about it, is he the first one in the gym and the first to leave the gym, is he studying his line-out throws, his scrums, his general (invisible) play, etc.
What is Shimmy doing about himself and the good faithful supporters money his is wasting by earning a salary for playing poorly, what?!?!?!?
What is WP doing to help him is just as good a question?!?!?!?!?!?

Brits battles to throw in straight or to his jumpers… he is a weak at the scrum but we forgive him that as long as he can put in at least one nifty side step.
If memory serves me correct … shimmie didn’t do too badly last CC when he got a chance to play … I think he got two man of the match awards but still he will not be good enough because he is not white …
How would you play if you knew that there was no one really wanting you to succeed?

I donno what you base your info on but statistically Brits and Shimmy’s line-out success was the same, the scrums at times suffered more with Shimmy as the hooker which is why Jakes reasons to exclude Brits were questioned as they scrummed in the same scrum, and the big plus was that Brits was so much more involved in the game in general play and made many positive impacts, if not mistaken made more line-breaks, beat the defence, successful passes, tackles and/or % tackles, etc per game than any other Stormer (but will have to check that though for sure).
So you saying although Shimmy makes no impact on the game, cozz he did not play too badly he deserves the No1 spot. Gosh, imagine how much worse WP would have been off if you worked there with that “insight”, and here I though it could be possible.

However, as I said in a previous post. Not knowing where you stand or not knowing whether your team believes they still have use for you is the worst thing you could need at such a stage in your life.
However, if that was me it would motivate me even further and I will become the best I ever was just to prove them wrong and laugh it up when I do.

Nee wat, ons sal die WP wen. Wp het orraait gespeel maar in my opinie was dit die Haaie se swakste game van die jaar (sluit s14 in). Die Wp het hier en daar goeie spelers soos Aplon en Diack (agsteman) en Luke was goed. Maar as n span dink ek ons is net te sterk vir hulle. Ons kan net die game verloor, ek dink hulle kan hom wen nie. Hulle forwards gaan weer swaar kry en op die agtervoet beteken hulle agterlyn nie veel nie. Ons het hulle nommer en hulle verloor die game nog voor hulle loftus toe kom in hul kop! Hulle gaan positief speel en kompeterend wees totdat ons met 8+ voor is of twee dskielike driee druk,dan gaan hulle vou. Onthou s14. Hulle ding mee totdat ons vinnoig score dan dink hulle “o hel, hier kom weer n loesing” en dan begin hulle in n verdedigende mode oorgaan en dan is dit verby…
Miskien bewys hulle my verkeerd, maar ek sal verras wees. Die WP bring altyd die beste uit die Bulle. Bulle met 15+

I can’t see the so-called bok captain replacing Bismarck either…here comes big ****…let him go back to freestate too, will surely be the first time that two brothers play for the Boks at hooker and prop at the same time ?
