Botha-less Boks
9 Jul 2006
Naas Botha will not join the Springboks in Australia and New Zealand as team manager and player mentor.
SARU Communications Manager Rayaan Adriaanse confirmed that the union had not been able to resolve the issues related to former manager Arthob Petersen, who was relieved of his responsibilities earlier in the year.
To further illustrate the chaos surrounding the national team, the governing body has not been able to resolve the issue in the last two months. The Springboks have played four matches, including three tests, and White’s request to have Botha as the team manager could not be accommodated.
Botha confirmed to the media that he was in Cape Town to discuss the proposal but nothing could be offered to him because Petersen’s situation was still an issue.
Botha was to take on a managerial role and assist with the kickers. Once again SA Rugby is months behind the schedule.
It is embarrassing when the national team has not manager because the game’s administration has not been able to sort out the mess in two months. SARU’s presidents who refused Jake White an extension of his contract have emphasised the coach still has their support.
Well, they’ve shown him just how much support he has.

Why cant south africans work together, why doesn’t everyone work together and help the boks win? why should there be money issues, legends like botha should help the boks because he loves them and wants them to win, not because of contract issues, you will see, England and other nations will snap our old pros up and then they will coach other teams and help them win.

Pity France lost, I dislike those Italians intensely. Especially that guy Materazzi, the defender who scored Italy’s goal and got the headbutt from Zidane, he’s a filthy cheat if ever I saw one, a lady boy who should’ve been banned from the start of the comp for being a cheat who dives at every opportunity and would steal from his grandmother

They need to get their act together, quickly.

Read your own comments above and see whats wrong in SA not only Rugby but our whole comunity NO RESPECT FOR A SPRINGBOK LEGEND, how on earth can our children have respect for us if we cant concentrate on the positives of ex players like Naas, rather than finding fault with his English , tackling …..
The voice of Murray Mexted is olso unique but do the NZlanders complain about it or do they respect his record and experience.

The difference in winning a game not in the last 4 minutes or the last minute of a game at home nogal. 32-12 is a spanking second to none.

Tackler, your comment today is silly and does no credit to what is normally an insightful contribution. One might equally ask what good Graham Henry does; sure he’s head coach and Naas is not, but from my own humble experience, Naas is inspirational….that’s what difference he’d make. Now if you want to lament the persistence with Eddie Andrews or the mindlessness of putting Solly in the team, you’d have my support (as you generally do).

Mate, I have respect for Naas as a brilliant rugby player, but not for his rugby knowledge. There are good reasons as to why he has and will never really get into coaching, and his stupid comments on Boots & All doesn’t help with the whole ‘respect’ thing.

As for Murray Mexted. They make television adverts advertising milk and referring to him as MOOrray Mexted. How is that called respecting him?
And I’d appreciate if you stop comparing everything in South African rugby to the All Blacks or NZ rugby. They are no better then us, we just show them too much respect.

SARugby needs a good kick up the butt. Expecting a win in the trinations without a manager in place – ridiculous! How on earth do they expect Jake to achieve a good win record if they don’t give him the basic support?

Post19 we are not saying one is better than the other, it is what we call rivalry, and it has been going on for the last hundred years.

Pompies, don’t talk rubbish man. We’re always hearing what is wrong with South African rugby and that we should do it like New Zealand. I live in New Zealand and I can tell you that they are all human.
The only problem is we show them too much respect and we also don’t nurture our players the way they do in New Zealand or Australia. We throw guys into the deep end and expect them to perform or get the axe.

Oregan Pine, Brain van Ruin, PC 14.
It’s like ladies of the night and the friggin round table.
Where is King Naas and the trusty kick.

Let’s all be really narse to old Narse, hey? At the end of tey day he’s probably quart a narse gar…
10 Jul 2006, 15:32 pm
Ok, we can’t score tries because we kick all our possesion away and now they declined to call Naas who is noted as a kicking flyhalf. Thank goodness they didn’t hire him, we would score even less tries, if that’s possible, with him around.

Hendrikp – comment 19 well said. I disagree re Naas though , I find his comments insightful and mostly accurate. Anway , I find it disgustful that SARU has not yet sorted out their **** and appoint a manager for Jake , I mean its week 2 of the Tri-nations !!!! I wish John Robbie can tackle these okes on Boots and all !!

I am almost an ex fan. He should air his laundry behind closed doors. either that or he really wants to get fired, go to england, get mouldy and work in an office. Does this mean that he thinks he is not able to coach the boks?
I thinks he needs a clip around the ear hole, and be told to develop the team. We needs 10 and 15 and we needs backusp for them. Percy will not go to RWC as he will be injured by then.
JW needs glasses, he is short sighted and narrow minded
Have your say
